I don't know if this is a phenomenon or if it just happens to me but I'll throw it out there.

I haven't watched Law and Order for close to 10 years, at least 5, and I've never seen an episode with Dennis Farina. So that's over 100 episodes I haven't seen. For some screwed up reason, I've just been in the mood to watch the show (I don't know why, I don't particularly like it) and everytime I put on TBS (or TNT, I forget the channel) it's the same episodes I remember having watched years ago. The same episode with Orbach and the Spanish guy (not even the Chris Noth episodes) that I remember from oh-so-long ago.

Does this happen to anyone else? Always catching the same episodes of the same long running shows?

It happens to me from time to time. Though shows like that have been on a long time, when they get rerun on several different channels every day, it's just bound to happen. The weirder thing for me is with some movies. There are certain ones that I always tune into on the same part every time.

It happens to me ALL the time. But I have to say that I was so happy the other day because, for the first time ever, the reverse happened to me . I was watching The Simpsons in syndication and it was an episode I'd never seen before, and I was sure I'd seen them all.

I've noticed that when a station replays really old episodes from a show, they will play them grouped together with other episodes from a particular season. So right now TBS might be playing episodes from a season or two that you saw every episode of.

I think that they only buy certain episodes..That they do not buy all the episodes in a particular season, thats why you see the same ones over & over again. Like with the Simpsons you know they have over 300 episodes but you will always see the same ones over & over again.

It always seems they run the same five episodes of Futurama on Adult Swim.

I'm really not sure how that can be since they've always run all four season consecutively since, well, ever. Just bad luck when you tune in every 3 months or so.

The syndication of The Simpsons ticks me off because it really seems that each time another season comes out on DVD they pull it from the rotation. Sure, you'll see the earlier episodes from time to time, but for the most part they seem to be showing seasons 11 and up over and over again.

Randy works in the Syndication Field

He said that TV Stations (Cable and Network) are forced to buy a certain amount of episodes and repeat them. The Best time to see good episodes is during the Sweeps Period, usually the best Simpsons . Seinfeld and L&O Episodes are played during that time

I remember being really happy a couple years ago, because I didn't have cable, so with just broadcast TV I got a lot of Simpsons and Seinfeld reruns, I think they were both on at least three times a day on just the 8 channels that I got. Anyways, one day I saw both a Simpsons episode and a Seinfeld episode that I had never seen before. It was great. It never happened again.
