if im not mistaken the Pats play the Chargers fairly early on in the season, that should be a really nice match-up right out the gate.

TheMojoPin

The Bears are still awesome, likely even better than last year.

It's basically coming down to Rex. 2nd full year for a QB is make or break.

Eli is mediocre. Rex redefines what it means to fail. No comparison.

Snoogans
07-29-2007, 01:43 PM
Yea but eli never had the ups. Last year, Grossman alone won me a good 5 fantasy games before losing me about 7, one of which i was up 14 with only him left and he put up a -20

I still hate Eli more

TheMojoPin

Eli is mediocre. Rex redefines what it means to fail. No comparison.

Are we still beating this into the ground? Yes, when Rex fucked up, it was usually epic. He was, however, good much more often than bad and out of those "good" starts was great more often than not. Do I really need to pull all of his QB ratings? Look how many he got that were 85 and up.

Rex has at least shown he can be phenomenal. Eli has never shown he can be more than generic at best. I'm not saying Rex won't totally flame out this season, but people acting like last year was nothing but a disaster aren't paying attention.

Why doesn't Brady Quinn have is ghey ass in camp? I just read an article about his holdout, about how he wants top 10 draft pick money even though he dropped like a stone to number 22. Who the hell is he kidding? Mark my words, Brady Quinn equals Rick Mirer.

(And that just reminds me how much I STILL hate that harelipped Dave Wannstadt for screwing up my Bears. That fucking loser.)

Are you guts sure Peterson's salary? I thought there was a rookie cap.:glurps:

no rookie cap, but players generally fit into slots (1st pick gets x dollars, 2nd get x-y, third gets x-y-z, etc). which is what the issue with brady quinn is, he was drafted 22nd and wants to get paid like a top-10 slotted player. btw, peterson has a 5 year 40.5 mill. not insane, and who knows what is guaranteed?

Doctor: Paralysis likely for Bills TE after spinal surgery (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/09/10/bc.fbn.bills.everetthur.ap/index.html?eref=si_nfl)

is unlikely to walk again, the surgeon who operated on him said Monday

he cautioned that Everett's injury was life-threatening because he was still susceptible to blood clots, infection and breathing failure.

I hate stuff like this. The guy is only 25 years old! Good luck, fella.

It's a sad story, but you hope that they intentionally lowered the expectations so if he does make a recovery...

i.e. it's better to say "paralysis is likely" and he walks again in six months rather than saying "I don't know" or "He'll be ok" and never walk again.

That being said, that's the PR side of me talking. Unfortunately, I think the Doctor's assesment is correct.

I guess it's easy to see the power in the AFC hasn't really changed all that much (Indy, NE and SD). Perhaps the steelers and bengals will be in the mix, but my bet is it'll only be one of the two. The steelers look more well rounded, but they did play ESD's awful SB pick the browns. Not a fucking chance in hell.

Easy early picks are NE and Indy for their divisions, and some decent races in the others. In the AFC West SD and Denver should battle pretty late into the year with SD hopefully edging them out at least.

In the AFC North, it should be a battle with Pitt, Cincy and an aging Baltimore. By the end of the year I see the Ravens falling out of this due to age on D. Yet I have little faith in Cincy's D and there are some good question marks in Pitt. I'd have to lean toward Pitt overall here and Cincy finally getting into the playoffs with a WC spot.

The other WC spot will be decided very late by possible tie-breaker with TN, Buf and Denver. Out already by my accounts are NYJ, Oak, KC and Cleveland. Perhaps a last ditch effort can come from Baltimore and Jax, and surprising pushes are possible from Miami, Houston and Buf.

I don't own Leinart. I only needed 10 points out of Fitz, that's not asking too much of him. I blame Leinart for not being able to properly get the ball to him.

This is certianly wonderful news to say the least. Here is one of the reasons that this outcome is happening.

He immediatletly started a therapy called Permissive hypothermia; where his core body temp was lowered to approx 90 degrees. Starting this therapy early is essential, b/c its like putting an ice pack on a bruise. It reduces the amount of swelling on the spinal cord, and therefore would possibily limit the extent of the paralysis. Im sure that this therapy along with steriods and surgery all had a hand in his care. This therapy is also used for patients that suffer cardiac arrest and are succusfully resusicitated.

....AND (according to USA Today - I know, but I'm out of town -) that cooling procedure was advocated by the paralysis research center founded by the Buoniconti family after the son Marc was paralyzed after a hit while playing for University of Miami.

Ralph Wilson - the owner of the Bills - contributed millions of dollars to that reasearch over the years, AND this tight end (sorry, I don't remember his name) played at Miami.

Not sure if this was discussed earlier in the week but Mike & Mike were comparing Favre's legacy w/ the other great QBs of this era and one of them, I think Greenburg, had Marino ahead of Favre.

I'm not sure his logic. If Favre winds up w/ more TDs, more MVPs, already has more wins, and the Super Bowl ring how could marino be better ?

Now I don't think the more rings a guy has makes him better but when you compare a guy that does have one to a guy that doesn't, and the numbers are on par, the guy with the ring has to get the nod.

That argument that Marino didn't have a RB is as assinine as the one that claims that Emmit Smith wasn't that good because his O-line was the best.

Now people should be judged for " what ifs " as opposed to their actual numbers ?

When Mike & Mike went through the discussion they did mention that neither Marino nor Favre had a HOFer on offense w/ them.

The only nod they gave Favre was Reggie White but that's on the other side of the ball.

Incindentally who were Favre's Jerry Rice & Roger Craig ?

epo

Seriously though, Marino isn't even as good as Green Bay's second best all-time QB, Bart Starr...much less Brett Favre.

To Favre's credit Marino can't touch these tangible facts:

The NFL's only 3-time MVP
Most consecutive games started by a QB
Most wins by a QB
That elusive Super Bowl ring.

And he's on the verge of breaking Marino's career TD record.

What in the world even puts Marino in Favre's class?

Well, the Bears made a big statement last night, namely that they stink on ice and they're going to torture me all season long.

And they lost like that to Dallas. Man, that stings.

Yeah, no kidding.

I'm turning it off and waiting until McNabb shows up next year. Of course, we'll still have the same shitty and completely useless o-line.

neither, id rather have fred jackson (back up running back and third string qb) than either of those asshats. put in trent edwards for a while and fuck losman. this is his fourth year in the league and has shown nothing. except maybe skipping the ball on five yard outs, cause thats what he does best.

With all the talk about the long term effects of concussions, Trent Green has a lot to think about, now. He got that terrible one two years ago, and now today. Wow. That sucks!

Steelers looked solid today against the Seahawks. Ward, Holmes, Polamalu and Hampton were all out and they still dominated.
