Remember when the hype of some trinket caused you to join the fever pitch of collecting said object? Eventhough the retail value of the object was scant, you ended up paying 10 times that so that you could be a member of the club?... What was it for you?

Here is my list of collecting shame..

1. Star Wars toys.. not the valuable ones, but the jar jar era ones.

2. McFarlain action figures, spawn, cygor, blah blah.. Angela w/o panties anyone? I spend 50 bucks for her, she's gotta be worth at least 80 cents now.

3. Desert Storm cards.. Hahaha, I suck.

4. Here is the worst.. I have a collection of Bo Jackson cards that I dropped a couple of hundred bucks getting..

5. A lot of gimmic comic books.. All the first release Image comic books 1-10.. =(

6. My mom has about 2k wrapped up in friggin beanie babies, and another 1.5k invested in a case to display them.. This makes baby Jesus is sad.

What's your collecting shame?

nothing. Even when I was a kid I never collected shit. I mostly buy things that can be used for a purpose. Buying star wars actions figures and beenie babies and things like that always seemed odd and a waste of money. If you do it to make money then fine but if you do it to say you have those things and all they do is collect dust, then your nuts.

only thing i remember collecting is matchbox cars when i was maybe 7 or 8... think i had 3 or 4 of them.... i also collected a bunch of bad haircuts till i was in the 8th grade (thanks Pop) In the 7th grade he gave me one so bad my Mom started crying. It was late-spring/early-summer and I wore a wool Jets hat to school and hid behind a tree so the girls in the neighborhood wouldn't see me. in 8th grade I was able to go to the stylist, then i became badass - lol

The "discarded" claws from my cats. Y'know, as they would claw their post (or an occasional rug) the outer sheath of their claws would naturally break off. For some reason I find them really cool.

I don't do it much anymore, unless it is a REALLY good claw. It is by far the wierdest and most "shameful" thing I have collected (and it may wind up being up near the top of the list by the time we're done).

i have a large collection of different stupid shit with the Mets logo on it. For some reason my family still thinks I am 12 so every birthday or xmas I get some stupid shit with the mets logo. For example, my birthday was two days ago and my dad brought me a Budwiser promo bottle with the Mets logo on it. I simply ask, "what the hell am i going to do with this," and he replies with, "put it on your mantle."

yes.......a 29 year old man with mets paraphernalia over his fireplace. how mature.

Concert ticket stubs and guitar picks. I started it in 1979, and had a pretty good collection going. Guitar picks from: Ian Hunter, Queen(six pence), Cheap Trick, EVH, Eric Johnosn, Styx(sorry Gvac), Bon Jovi, Elliott Easton, Robbie McIntosh(Pretenders/McCartney), Pat Metheny, Rick Derringer, The Edge and dozens more. The early stubs and picks also had the old WPLJ patch to go along with them. ...All stolen about 15 years ago.

Ashamed? Promise to read the thread titles from now on.

in highschool a lot of wrestlers would spit into cups when cutting weight (seriously)

i started doing the same in a gallon milk jug, you wouldn't believe the stench that emanated from this thing, i was hoping to do something horrible with it but it was just hideous and i threw it away after a month......

on a more normal note, i have all the cars from the initial D animated series.

Seriously though, as a kid I collected sports cards, gi joe, transformers, those sports sticker books (loved when you got that one sticker/player you needed to complete a team page for the cost of a whole pack) and many more. Today I'd have to go with cds, dvds and concert/sport ticket stubs.

In the 7th grade, I had a friend that collected his jizz for about a week in a paper cup. It ended when he took the paper cup out from under his bed to get to work and he saw that about 100 ants took a liking to it.

*Unashamed* to still have two working original NES systems and continue to collect the games, even though you can get emulators or whatever it's NOT the same! (A+B+AB start), besides it's a thrill when they work from a yard sale or offer some terrible pop reference.
