I am happy with the love for 30 Rock and Dillon getting nominated for supporting actor in Entourage. But am pissed that they show no love to Dexter (best series this season), no love to The Shield. And I thought Sopranos, though it is the favorite, was very disappointing this season. It projected the air of distinguishment far more than its quality deserved.

The Emmys stink.
He's an excellent article on why. (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20045108_20045123_20046803,00.html)
Last year, in a display of sloth and dishonesty, they nominated Ellen Burstyn for a performance (in HBO's Mrs. Harris) that lasted literally 14 seconds. The rules now stipulate that an actor must appear on screen for longer than the duration of a burp, which I suppose is an indirect way of saying, ''You actually have to WATCH the shows, not just check off famous names, you dozy bastards.''
I'm writing this column before the Emmy nominations have been announced, but according to an early report revealing the semifinalists, they're going to showcase a far greater embarrassment: The Wire was out of the running for best drama series, despite a season that many TV critics ranked among the medium's great dramatic achievements. The Wire was doomed because voters had already decided that it wasn't even one of the year's 10 best dramas. The shows that did make that list include 24, for a season so implausible that even Chloe couldn't keep a straight face, and Boston Legal. That's right: Presented with a staggeringly powerful piece of work that wove politics, drugs, race, violence, and poverty into a crushing examination of the way inner-city public schools betray kids, the Emmy membership decided it just wasn't quite as incisive as William Shatner yelling, ''Denny Crane!''
The top 10 drama series were chosen by popular vote, which favors shows with big audiences and/or network backing. That's why, in addition to The Wire, The Shield and Battlestar Galactica missed the cut. And the 10 were narrowed down to five by factoring in the ballots of judges who hunkered down to watch just one episode of each series in what Jack Bauer would call one very long day. (When I say ''judges,'' feel free to substitute either ''committed, intelligent industry veterans'' or ''ax-grinding rageaholics whose last major gig was a guest shot on Mannix,'' depending on your level of cynicism.)
Terrible.

I totally forgot no The Wire!! Such bullshit. But yeah, those 5 minutes at the end of Sopranos totally makes it the bestest show ever.

I couldn't agree more with Dexter, Liddy.
That series completely blew my mind.
I really think that Michael C. Hall was brilliant.

Terry O'Quinn won for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama. People won't remember him for winning it but it's good he got it because he's an awesome actor.
Michael Emerson was nominated (Ben).
And, Through the Looking Glass is nominated for Best Writing.
I think this last season may have gotten some of Lost's street cred back.

Imagine that... Fox censored Sally Field when she was ranting about war. It might have been because of semi obscene word, but the censored part was at least 5 seconds long.

All I care about is Terry O'Quinn winning, which I didn't at all expect. Finally those old curmudgens got something right.

jeez, James Spader!! I would have at least thought possibly Denis Leary for a change of pace or James Gandolfini since there's no more Sopranos. Kinda like the Oscars with all the winnings of Lord of the Rings. It was the last movie. Sweep the muthafuckas

it's understandable since kate walsh looks like a man. otherwise i'd call you teh ghey.
i was surprised & very happy that 30 rock won.
love spader, but shocked that he won again & that they didn't give it to gandolfini, even though i would have loved leary to win.
30 rock winning kind of made the show not suck as bad after those long 3 hours.

I guess it seems fitting for Sopranos to win. I guess the big upset was James Spader. He seemed as surprised as anyone. In my eyes he's always the scientist in Stargate. nothing else. Ricky Gevais for Extras kinda cool, wasn't as big a fan of Extras as I was with the Brit Office. Kinda wish Alec Baldwin won but hey the show is the the winner for comedy.

That's what I thought, but the silence was quite a bit longer than what was needed for "god damn". Not to mention that they completely pulled the camera away from her.
