View Full Version : Post Pick-up Protocal
I met a girl this weekend at a bar and she gave me her email address and phone number. 2 days ago I decided to email her so I could edit myself, but I haven't heard from her yet. Now what should I do:
Wait it out and hope for the best?
Email again and run the risk of looking desperate?
Or call her and run the risk of looking desperate and stupid?
Please help me out ladies. I thought we hit it off but who knows?

DON'T DO ANYTHING!!!!!!!
You have made the first move... let her follow up!!!
Girls are smart, this is a game, if you try to call her or email her again, she will have all the cards in her hands... DON'T LET HER WIN!!!
And however long it takes her to write you back... you wait the same amount of time to respond.

Hosp...YOU NEED A WOMAN!!!! I would wait a few more days and if she doesnt respond to your email then give her a call...Whats the worst that can happen? But don't go any farther than that, you dont want to seem psycho...maybe she deleted your email because she didn't recognize your address(i have done that)....If she gave you both the email and the phone number, she must be somewhat interested...as long as you didn't tell her about that little problem you've got umm down there ;)

Gee Gina, thanks for the support. I NEED A WOMEN? You probably will to once you're done with Dan.
The question probably should have been how soon should I attempt calling her without looking desperate and a psycho? I think I will wait until monday.
Problem? What problem?

Yes. You made the first move, wait for her to follow up. If it gets to be a while (but not...a few months or anything ;-)) you should try again. Emails can be accidentally deleted or get lost in other ways. Don't leave it up to chance.

Hosp,
I'm 34 and married so maybe I can at least give you some "wisdom."
Wait. If she doesn't return the e-mail with 3-5 days give her a call (and hope the answering machine picks up! God I love technology!!). Give her some breathing room. You've made the first move. As my scatter-brained friend would say, "The ball's in her garage now!"
GOOD LUCK!!!! Let us know if you "score!"

Thanks to the ladies. I knew once they started answering the thread I'd get useable advice. The next thing I need to know is should I mention I emailed last sunday?
This girl was really cute (picture comedian Sarah Silverman but not so Jewish) and I thought we really got along well. I thought we had clicked and that the only reason I'm worried so much.

Gee Gina, thanks for the support. I NEED A WOMEN?Hey, all I meant by that was that you are a good guy and you deserve a good chick...thats all.
I wouldn't mention that you emailed her, just let it go. Give her a call and ask her to hang..keep it simple.
Hope all goes well...

Well since you can't check if
she read it or not give her a
call on Monday. You can start
by talking about Thanksgiving
and then ask her out. The
worst that can happen is she
says no and you would be in
the smae place if you did not
call...

I know Gina, I was just teasing. Spread the word about me though, you never know who might hear things. And don't forget to mention my "great personality", I hear that always helps. And Gina, I would never say my own hard luck story, I just told her I was left at the alter and I have been hospitalized and medicated until just last weekend. I think that would just work a lot better.
Okay, I'll fill you all in on monday.

in on monday.
Hope you do! I know how tough
it can be to "make a move"!! I
remember I left a message for
Thunderlips asking him to a
movie 4 years ago. I was so
nervous that I left my
apartment. When I got back
there was a message for me. It
took me 3 hours to listen to
it (I was expecting something
like , "yeah, ummm, I gotta do
laundry" or something like that!)
Hope you "score"!!!!

Early update: I'm speaking to her right now on IM. She was away with her family for the week. We spoke for about 2 hours. She was impressed that I get her sense of humor. I'm feeling very good about all of this.

I forgot that part Gina. Damn. But I still say I had a better hard luck story. I can tell you're still thinking about it.
Tenbats, The sad part is that when I was 16 I actually broke my left knee attempting a field goal. It's part of my affection for Charlie Brown in the first place. Damn thing has changed the course of my entire life.
Alice, if any "scoring" is done, I'll be sure to let you know. Who knew a married woman would be so fixated on such a thing.

Not really "fixated." I just like when good things happen for people!

Okay ladies, contact has been established and we enjoy each other's company. How long do I wait before I ask her out? I know if I wait too long I'll get stuck in that "Too good a friend/Can't think of you that way" zone that I am way to familliar with, or if I ask to soon I could just appear too pushy. I really want this to work out and that's why I'm asking for so much advice.
And Alice, I meant nothing by that, I just realised I haven't been on this board too long and people haven't had the chance to get my humor yet.
And if this doesn't work, I'm just going to force my friends on the board to hook me up with someone.
