I just saw a commercial for Daddy Day Camp (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3NdZOTo7SA)

Isn' t Cuba Gooding Jr. an Oscar winner? Now he's in this craptacular, taking over a role that was originally Eddie Murphy's. A role, mind you, that in my opinion was beneath Eddie Murphy to take, and he's never won an Oscar.

Who represents this guy, because he never came close to cashing in on his Oscar. Just look at some of what he's been in since Jerry Maguire:

Chill Factor
Rat Race
Snow Dogs
Boat Trip
Norbit

Can you think of other actor/actresses that squandered their Oscar wins? Marisa Tomei comes to mind.

I saw that before I went to see Fantastic Four 2 (shut up, I was depressed and needed to watch something retarded and loud) and it looked like the worst movie ever. I especially like how they cast a fake-Jeff-Garlan who lools and acts just like Jeff Garlan.

I wouldn't say Gwyneth squandered her Osar win, she just didn't really choose many movies. And the movies she did choose seemed to be smallish, indy flicks and I really can't fault her for that. And she also squatted a kid. She's still pretty though and going to be in Iron Man.

Halle Berry definitely. I never thought she was that good, saw her as a total primadonna (esp. with the X-Men BTS stuff), and Monster's Ball was luck more than how utterly talented she is. But her career really has shit the bed.

What about Whoopi Goldberg? Or Robin Williams?

Cuba, Halle, Whoopi- connection?

proud of Jeff Garlin. Now if you can't get Jeff Garlin you get "this guy."

He would have been better off with Kramer's "treatment".

To be fair, he's gotten a lot more money-making feature film work than other supporting actors.

And Daddy Day Care made 100 million.

The other supporting actors who have won in the last 15 years:

Gene Hackman (mainly for his past work, vis-a-vis Sean Connery)
Tommy Lee Jones (helped kill Batman franchise)
Martin Landau (dead)
Kevin Spacey (ok, he still works in big pics)
Cuba
Robin Williams (RV and the Mandy Moore movie, anyone?)
James Coburn (dead)
Michael Caine (primarily gets work in small art house movies or small supporting roles for "coolness" factor - see Alfred in the Batman reboot)
Benecio Del Toro (what's he been up to?)
Jim Broadbent (who?)
Chris Cooper (who?)
Tim Robbins - again, known for his past work and then vanished once he won
Morgan Freeman - see Connery and Hackman
Clooney - That was a straight up popularity contest. Everyone in Hollywood loves Clooney.
Alan Arkin - again, old, lots of past work, quirky arthouse movie.

I think the cred of a "Best Actor" Oscar holds a LOT more weight than Supporting, for both actor and actresses.

Just because it's not a "good" movie doesn't mean it doesn't pay very well.

And what is wrong with THAT? For what it's worth, one of the most prolific directors in episodic television today is Anson "Potsie" Williams.
