I just saw the trailer for the Steve Carrell version of the movie adaptation for Get Smart, it looks very good. Now I can't wait to see this. Also in the movie as Anne Hatheway, Alan Arkin and The Rock. I totally loved the original Don Adams version and I was a little hesitant about this, but it looks good so far...here's the trailer

I'm a big Get Smart fan too. I'd prefer not to have all the frickin remakes, but what are you going to do? Can't really tell much about how it's going to be from that trailer, but it's nice to see Azamat getting work after Borat.

That was ABSOLUTELY my favorite show as a kid. They better not fuck this up!

Loved the show too, it was my favorite Nick at Nite show ever. I really hope the movie isn't terrible. I've also masturbated to Anne Hathaway until I was sore.

Cedric the Entertainer must be really busy. He made that Honeymooners movie great, so why not cast him for this?

Don't you mean Dwayne Johnson?

Don't think so fast... They're still planning on using Cedric for the remake of "THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY" (http://unhallowed.com/default2.cfm)

I totally understand being protective of treasured TV shows.

However, there are some shows that I think may be ruin proof. A couple years ago I went on a download spree trying to get all my favorite Thundercats, Voltron, F Troop and Get Smart episodes.

Along the way I realized, these shows may not hold up that well. I couldn't finish watching GS with Harry Hu, the extremely stereotypical Asian detective.
The gags are so telegraphed it really isn't sustainable. Anyway, I just get the feeling that although it was a solid show for its time, Get Smart can only get better with some careful film treatment.

Same goes for Thundercats ... pretty much unruinable. MumRa acts all badass at the beginning of every episode, but he turns into a little bitch almost immediately.

I do think that Voltron could be ruined, though.

I'd do it too. He's famous enough now, why pay McMahon to use the name.

I still watch GS when I remember in syndication on some local channel and as some relic of the 1960s with silly jokes it's still pretty funny.
