Today (7/12) Fez sounded awesome coming into the show. Then he did a silly hypothetical (ok it was kinda weird, but whatever they always are). He then was verbally assaulted from every direction for the next three hours. With callers scolding Fez, Earl twisting the knife in there, even Dave jumped on the bandwagon.

I don't get it. Fez finally jumped on the mic instead of shying away from it, he probably imagined it would be a silly break like the "beating up a 9 year olds", and instead of just going with the question and having fun with it, Fez is suddenly worse than Hitler. I loathed the gang-up mentality we saw today.

I'm not trying to be negative. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this today as well. I truly love the show and everything about it. I want Fez to get better. And as someone who has been on Effexxor for about 3 years, it really sounds like it's working for Fez. But FUCK, I'm afraid he'll just get more mic shy again since when he does jump on the mic he gets a 4 hour dump taken in his mouth.

I've been listening to a ton of 2002 lately. And Fez used to put his foot in his mouth sometimes just like today (if you can call it that) but they always just rolled with it and turned on Al Dukes or Joe Poo instead.

I think Ron would refer to what you're talking about as "staying in character".

I guess I'm "don't get the bit guy" as they like to say at WackBag. Oh well.

I miss calling lobsterclaws the biggest skank he's ever seen Fez.

i think so too, but with all the lithium and prozac they're pumping into himnow he doesn't seem to notice.

from noon to 3 fez is back, on fire, and i'm loving it. for all i know, after three he's just a puddle of tears. i don't like to think about that part.

I miss hanging out with the Buddays at events....
.......making Fez cry in person is so much more fulfilling than listening to it on the radio ....

2002 Fez would throw you out of a three story building, then give you some Flair Chops for good measure.

I agree with Mikeyboy. But its so true that the 102.7 re-runs are highlighting a difft era of the show. If anyone isnt staying in character, its our Ms. Fez Marie Watley. Personally I love the fact that the show itself is strong enough to evolve and continually win new listeners. And I dont need "over the top" Fez to be entertained by him. IMO, Fez is just battling between doing his "character", and actually getting older and not wanting to feign happiness if hes not feeling it. Fez CAN stand up for himself and can cut someone to pieces, dare i say, as well as ronnie sometimes. Just because Fez seems to target 10yr old girls for his biting wit, dont think he cant hold his own with the big boys at times.

Here's my thinking. Fez has been in radio so long he has melded into his radio character. They are the same person. The only socializing Fez even does is when he's at work.

These aren't characters - these are real people living their lives through the radio, more real than reality tv. Fez was happy in 2002. Everyone says so. He was miserable in DC and it showed on air, same with now.

If you aren't happy at home, chances are you won't be happy at work either. It's a 3 hour show - you can't put on an act for 3 hours.

Just my opinion.

The was thinking about this during "It Makes Me Fez." When that song first came out he was the loveable wacky goofball, now he's depressed and heartless...literally. So hearing IMMF is such a weird experience.

It's like looking at the old comics when Batman was more fun and then reading the Frank Miller version. Updated Fez is so much more dark and angsty but he's become a lot more "real." Not that I'm complaining.

I know what you are saying - that they will purposely take devil's advocate positions to make for good radio. Not sure that was really the case here. And scolding Fez for bringing up crazy shit seemed unnecessary and not a bit.

Fez needs to be encouraged at this point, and dare I say it, treated with kid gloves. Build up the little fella. Let him get his confidence and chops back. Earl on the other hand, who reneged on his bet, goes around being black judas and no one dares to go at him. Are show bets now meaningless? I guess so. Thanks Earl.

Ron is Fez's best friend and has dealt with him on and off the air for close to 2 decades. I defer to him on the best way to "handle" Fez.

Good point. It's just Ron doesn't know a lot about Effexxor - and I think it's helping Fez. He started out sounding fucking great today. It's a good drug (besides the withdrawal symptons). It's helping him.

I have no problem with Ron and didn't start this thread to blame him for anything. Ron is God. You can't blame Ron at all for today - he probably had some nerves or something for his clusterfuck organized show - but it would have been nice to hear others on the show to actually stick up for Fez and take his side and realize he sounded awesome instead of daggering him like Brutus.

Whether its a bit or not, the perception is that Ron is just not happy with Fez's performance and is trying to shake him up a little...hopefully there is not another stent coming anytime soon...I think Ronnie B would split a vein if Fez had to be out for more time....lol....He was particularly funny yesterday accusing Fez of "crazy talk" with the medicines...that was grade A...

Today was a nicer show to Fez, and did you hear the fucking lines he got off? I had shivers. 2002 Fez is on his way back. Once he ups his dosage he will be even better. Efexxor is pretty helpful.

Yeah.. seems that Fez with a few drinks in him lets it fly...
since drinking it out for Mr. Stent,
the medicine seems to be taking the place of the booze...

mabye the drug show that talked about how different people
act under the influence...
(like the guy that drinks up enough courage to come over and say 'hi' at bar 9)
was inspired by the difference Ron might be see-ing
between a medicated and non-medicated Fez....

I DON'T DRINK..
THAT'S WHY I'M NO FUN AT ALL....
