Fucking seriously, jesus christ. I just reinstalled windows xp like 2 weeks ago and i guess i haven't played a dvd yet. I just tried to and i get this message

DVD Playback Options for Windows
If you are running the Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, or Windows XP operating system on your computer, you might need to install a compatible DVD decoder (also known as a MPEG-2 decoder) before continuing with the following activities.

*
Playing a DVD
*
Playing a recorded TV show
*
Playing video files that were encoded with the MPEG-2 codec (.mpeg, .mpg, and some .avi files)

To purchase a compatible DVD decoder, visit Plug-ins for Windows Media Player.

since when do I have to PAY to play DVD's on fucking windows!?
Please help me, I'm going out of my mind.

This is the best free all in one decoder pack

Follow this link:

http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp

Download and install

Click next next next... Finish

After that you won't have any problems playing video, DVD, downloaded, internet or otherwise.

i do not know what to add besides you need a DVD decoder. it all goes back to anti-piracy shit.

If you bought a PC equipped with a DVD drive, check with the computer manufacturer. They may have updated Windows XP DVD decoder drivers available, often for free.

Microsoft doesn't offer a free DVD decoder and doesn't supply it with Windows. Like mentioned earlier you can look for the DVD player CD that comes with your DVD drive or with your new computer. Usually PowerDVD, Cyberlink DVD, ATI DVD etc.
