Al Dukes was a heel and yet he was involved in some very interesting bits as well. I think that the producers and interns having to compensate for Earl gives the show more variety if Earl did everything.

They joked about it today but I feel there was a lot of truth in what Ronnie said about bringing Earl to the shrink and being the root of Fez's problems.

Al Dukes was a pinata for the show, but he seemed to make things work. Earl is a constant source of stress for the show. He's blatantly disorganized (his retarded lists today) and has no chops for the job. He could be a cool cat producing music for the jazz fusion channel but for Ron and Fez he does not belong.
