Yesterday I was unloading the car from a weekend trip and bringing up all the bags (which required 3 trips) into my chick's apartment and during the third trip I punched the second door to the apartment building and cracked it. My hand is fine but it's obvious the door is going to have to be replaced. Thing is i didn't want to tell my girlfriend, who doesn't know it was me and didn't say anything. I'm thinking there might be a video camera that records the front door and saw me. I didn't punch it that hard and I think the 100 degree heat had a lot to do with it, but it is my responsiblity.
Do i contact the landlord and tell him what happened and offer to pay? I have no idea what it would cost to replace the glass and I'm scared I might get me or my chick in trouble. Or we can assume the landlord will just replace the door. advice?

You could say you did it accidentally while carrying the bags, if you're too embarrassed to just tell the truth.

yes you will have to pay and no they wont call the cops. Why would they? Accidents happen plus your telling him the truth in advance without him having to wonder. Just pay and fix it. If its glass maybe it cost you a couple hundred.

The right thing to do would be to report it to the landlord as an accident and pay for replacement of the glass. It can't be too much plus the landlord may "give you a medal for being so brave and honest" but more likely just ask you to pay which shouldn't be too much. Other option is to pretend you know nothing and live a life of guilt and shame

Wow I would be more concerened about your hidden anger problem than the door itself.

What color was the door? This could be a hate crime.
