Monsters and Critics reports that the planned remake of classic 1968 car chase flick "Bullitt" is finally moving forward.

Since 2003, Brad Pitt has been attached to star in the role of Lt. Frank Bullitt, made famous by Hollywood legend Steve McQueen, hunting a hitman who has killed his fellow officers.

The film has remained famous to this day mostly for featuring one of the best car chases in cinema history as McQueen's Mustang car speeds through the streets of San Francisco.

The site reports that the project has only now been given the green light as film bosses desperately try to kick-start as many movies as possible before the Screen Actors Guild begin their anticipated strike action.

Seriously, why can't they just say "hey, let's do a cop movie." Is the Bullit name really such a draw that they have to remake it? Why not Madigan?

I wish those wildfires out west would burn Hollywood to the ground. Then a massive earthquake to come and sink it into the ocean.

I want Steve McQueen to rise out of the grave and torch the studio.

Then I want zombie McQueen signed to a three-picture deal.

There is NO originality left in Hollywood. This will tank just like all the rest of the crap that is put out

ROTTING DEAD STEVE COULD PROBABLY OUT ACT AND HAS MORE CHARISMA THAN MOST OF HOLLYWOODS LEADING MEN THESE DAYS.

I"ve always wanted to see this movie remade, except instead of the backdrop of San Francisco, the crime drama will take place in the flatter, safer streets of Milwaukee. And instead of the character originaly played by Steve McQueen, will now be played by a rotund pig animated by CGI effects.

I'm OK with this remake. I always thought Bullit was kind of slow and boring.

Very nice. Just cut the car chase and say it happened. Even safer.
