So F_S Hears On The Radio Today A Song "I Can't Quit Her" That Was Very Cool In The 60's Style He Likes So Much, And It Was Kinda A Deja Vu, And It Made Him Feel Really Good, But He Couldn't Quite Place The Song.
So He Does A Search Just Now And Finds Out It Was By Blood, Sweat And Tears.

Now, F_S Has Always Disliked B, S & T Because Of Their "Big Band" Sound And Because Of "Spinning Wheel" And "And When I Die" And "You've Made Me So Very Happy".
But Yet 40 Years Later Here He Is Finding A Song By Them That Moves Him And Shakes Him.
So....Is There A Particular Song You LOVE, By A Group Or Solo Artist You Otherwise Hate?

I have plenty, but at the moment off the top of my head and this ain't the greatest example to give...I am not at all a fan of Nickleback, but I do like the song Far Away by them. It's one of those songs that got enough airplay that I started liking it the more I heard it.
When Radiohead first came out I wasn't crazy about them - it wasn't anything against them but I just didn't hear enough them but there was one or two songs I didn't care for that I think turned me away from them, there was also a few songs here or there that I was okay listening to if it came on the radio but I never got into them. Then I heard Fake Plastic Trees and really loved the song. I started listening to more songs and sampling on Amazon, soon I had a whole bunch of their albums and I love them. So it can also happen that one song can change your whole perception of the band.

Strange.
Same thing with Radiohead for me.
Except I really didn't like anything they did including "Paranoid Android", which was HUGE at the time. I just didn't see why everyone loved them so much.
Then I heard "Karma Police". The song made me feel a certain way that I can't even describe. It touched me.
I proceeded to get OK Computer, and I absolutely fell in love with it. I started to really like songs that I had previously not cared for.(except for "Electioneering". Still hate that song:dry:)

Not a fan of the band at all, but I'll be damned if that song doesn't rock.

Thank You
I don't feel so bad now
I believe I've admitted this before...but there is no earthly reason why I would like the song "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins. But for some strange reason I do.

"Boys of Summer" by Don Henley
You should check out the remake of "Boys of Summer" done by The Ataris a few years ago. It was a very palatable remake of that song.
I lucked out too - I love the song "Smooth Criminal" but really don't like Michael Jackson. I was amazingly thankful when Alien Ant Farm did their rockin' remake. I like the song more than ever now.

Every once in a blue, I hear a song that is so undeniably good that I can't reject it.. even if it's by an artist I loathe.
EXAMPLES:
I hate TIM MCGRAW but, I love the song "Suspicions". It doesn't even sound like something he'd be capable of puttin' out. I think it's a great pop tune with almost an R&B feel. Bravo.
Also,
DIRE STRAIGHTS bore the hell outta me. I just plain hate that band. But... when I hear that geet playin' in "Sultans Of Swing", I just gotta make it louder. It's an ear-magnet.
Finally, I don't dig on PATTI LABELLE. I think she's a showoff. But WOW, when she sings "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" I actually get chills. Every time.
So this is probably gonna melt into a "guilty pleasures" thread but, anyway... tell me a song that just gets ya even though you despise the artist. THE ULTIMATE COMPLIMENT.
i'm trying to think of a band i hate, i never really got into oasis, more of a blur, radiohead fan, but wonderwall and champagne supernova are really great songs

If we include artists who are deplorable as human beings, then there is quite a long list. Miles Davis comes to mind. If you read his autobiagraphy you read of a women beating horrible piece of crap. Of course his music is the best.

How can you "HATE" an artist then say you love a song by them? Seems more like your not really a fan but like one song. To hate an artist I could never listen to any of their songs without switching stations. I know Im being Mr nitpicky here.
So my answer is noone. If I like one song by someone thats enough for me.
The one guy I hate is Diddy. The guy has made more money and fame based on zero musical talent and raping the remains of a dead Biggy Smalls. Ive never heard a song hes done that was any good

Same. I actually hate them pretty hard but every time i hear "Supersonic" i want to dance to that guitar riff and chorus.
Don't really like Led Zeppelin but if i hear "Immigrant Song" it's staying on and getting turned up.
The Dixie Chicks song "Travelin' Soldier". I don't know if it's the melodies of the song but i absolutely lose my mind when i hear it. It pulls at every goddamn heart string.

It's easy.
You hate them. But you like one song.
It's especially easy if that one song sounds NOTHING like their other material. This is what happened to EXTREME with "More Than Words". It can also happen when an artist does a song that was written for them by another artist. Or if an artist does a cover version. Or........
