View Full Version : what do I do with my comic book collection?

i have maybe 10 of the long comic book storage boxes (i forgot how many each one holds), all in my moms attic. Now that she is moving to Florida, I have to get rid of it, since I do not have anyplace to keep it. I also have a huge toy collection that I have to unload also.
I was thinking of an Ebay store since the comic book store i went to today will not take it. Any other suggestions?

Make sure you go through your comics and take out the dirty ones before you donate them to charity.

i think you should at least get your hands on a comic price book to see what some are worth. you never know.

why not give it to your little nephews in PA
you can also use them to lure children into your work truck

you can also try and sell them on craigslist per box. just say like XX per box, and who ever comes just takes a box without looking through it.
Don Stugots

would people do that? like, 300 comics, 150 bucks. take the box.

dude people in NYC craigslist buy ANYTHING. you should see some of the shit they sell on there. i am positve someone will buy a box. i know nothing about comics, so i have no idea how to price them. but if you just list some of the titles and conditions, people will def come by to pick them up.

Definitely pick up a price guide and a toyfare man. Anything that isnt worth much get rid of BUT just throwing them out/giving them away is silly. Craiglist is a good idea but definitely check all them first, dont be throwing away money for some douchebag to just steal.
And what toys ya got? any Mint on card/in box?
Shoot me a pm with the toys if you want

Get a price guide and keep the good ones. Throw them in mylar-wraps with non-acidic cardboard backing. Try not to stack them, like you wouldn't stack LPs. The rest, get rid of them by any profitable means necessary. I got rid of my schwag comics by taking them into a used-book store and getting credit.

Don Stugots I know what you are talking about. I was a collector from about 1980-1990 and had tons of comics (and baseball cards which I still have amazingly). Out of the thousands of comics I told myself I would never part with, I now have about forty, tucked away on the top of my bookshelf gathering dust. Mostly Frank Miller Daredevils from early 80s, and Ronin, and various #1s. Stuff I just couldn't get rid of.

Like said above, find out what's valuable and pull those, then donate/bulk sell the rest. Is most of your comics and toys modern era? And are any of the toys still in the packaging?

mostly 80's and 90's comics, some from the 70's. Lots of Image, Malibu comics, Batman, Punisher, Ghost Rider stuff. not too much Superman. 95% of the toys are from various SPAWN lines, with the other 5% being Batman and Star Wars. Everything is Mint or Near Mint in box.

I heard that if you donate comics you can write them off on your tax return at full cover price. Not so great for stuff from the 70's and 80's but it could work out if you bought an entire box worth of X-Force #1's thinking you'd be able to put your kids through College with them one day.

how long before she moves ???
if you got time then try ebay , craigslist, or maybe amazon if they do it too
as for the sell a box for 150, try it, look at it this way if you got 300 comics in there, at face value they'd be for arguments sake 1.00 each ,thats 300.00
now you said some where 70's and 80's so they'd be like .25 cents to . 75 cents face value
but all you have to do is say that theres some good or great comic in there but not sure what box they're in
thats what happened to me all the time, when i was collecting baseball cards there'd always be a few guys that had a grab bag of 10-100 cards for like 5 to 10 bucks each with a sign saying ken griffey jr upperdeck rookie is in one of these grab bags, of course it was just a scam for the guy to get rid of all his shitty .5 cent cards
look for comic book and card trade shows, you could set up a table i think it costs like 40 bucks to rent a table and see who comes buy and wants to buy

I've totally seen that on ebay and craigslist. I have a Mad Magazine collection from way back that I'm considering doing that with just sell em all at once, pick out the good ones that are worth more and sell those separately.

I do not mean to be a dick, but how am coming off confrontational? I made a joke, you responded so I made another joke.
This is a Ron and Fez forum correct? What I said is no different than anything that has ever been said on the show. If my comments are going to be a problem I will leave. I do not want to be part of a message board where I have to be politically correct and think about everything I post.
If I did come across confrontational, however, I do apologize.

And Gmat, you're not funny.
Ok I am obviously done on this particular form, go back to your comic books, I did not realize you took them so seriously.
And by the way, I thought the little happy face I specifically put on my original post signified that what I was saying was a joke. I am new at this so I could be wrong.
Anyway, once again I apologize, for interrupting your discussion.
