Sosa, really? whats so good about a guy who hits one home run, then strikes out his next 25 at bats and then hits another home run?

Holliday made it.

He should have been a starter over any of the other three.

He's on the Final Vote ballot on MLB.com

I was just looking at the Shortstops, though...obviously Reyes should be the starter.

But how the hell did J.J. Hardy make it over Rollins or even Renteria.

Hardy has four more HRs, and four or five more RBIs...Rollins has him in almost every other category...and he destroys him in runs, extra base hits, and steals.

And if you factor in defense, forget it.

John Maine. As deserving as any pitcher in the NL. But I can't complain, the Mets got 4 representin'

As much as I love what Sammy has done this year, he doesn't belong on the AS team as anything. MAYBE a DH, and even that is a stretch.

Now I know some of you are going to question my pick of Joe Borowski as a snub...so here goes my argument for him.

Since May 1 his numbers are:

14 sv
19.2 IP
8 ER
11 Ks
2 BB
Plus he is curently first in AL in saves (tied)

It's a 3.25 era

3.75 (http://www.baseballtips.com/era.html)

like if ya think aboot it, if you get rid of the 1.2 excess innings it's exactly 4 (8 runs over 18 innings)

Yea well its actually...3.66 [(9*8)/19.66)]

Anyway an era under 4 in the AL is not bad.

yeah, 3.66...i am used to site abbreviating innings as 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 2.0, etc. it threw me that that site wanted actual fractions of innings.

Yeah, there are plenty of others too (Barry Bonds, Prince Fielder, Russell Martin, Chase Utley, David Wright). They must mean AL starting position players, or something like that.

Not for a closer. The four AL All Star closers and their ERAs

Jonathan Papelbon - 1.50
Francisco Rodriguez - 2.36
J.J. Putz - 0.95
Bobby Jenks - 2.84

Joe Borowski - 5.58

And Jenks might have only made it because they needed one White Sox player.

I'd probably go with Curtis Granderson in the A.L. and Chris Young in the N.L. as the biggest snubs.

whoever thought Borowski was snubbed is either a fan of the Indians and cant see reality or knows nothing about baseball. ( No offense!)

The guys has an era of 5.684 and a whip of 1.547. That means every inning he pitches he lets more then 1 1/2 runners on base. Thats shit. He avgs less then a k per inning. Yes he has a ton of saves but when you pitch for a good team you get more chances. They were talking last week about him maybe losing his closers roll.

How about Brian Fuentes making it as an all star even though he just lost his closers job?

Snubs
NL
Jimmy Rollins

Does anyone really care about the all-star game any more? I used to like it as a kid because I would get to see some stars that my team never played. Now I see everybody. I almost wish that players from the Mets don't get voted in so that they get a nice break. And the fact fact that it decides the home field in the World Series makes me hate it even more.

I still like to see who makes the team. But for one reason or the other, I always end up doing something else on game night anymore. I do try to catch the HR derby though.

But even that's a joke now. Torre used to bring half the Yankees with him and most players get in on reputation. The only interesting thing is watching the pitchers because I think that is the one position where they won't mail it in.

Kevin Youkilus.

Agreed. I love Papi but it's not fair that he has to get in as a first baseman -- especially as Youkie is having a great year at the plate and in the field.

I'd also say that Hideki Okajima should have been considered.

I agree, what the fuck does a player from Tampa Bay and Baltimore give a fuck about the winning team getting home field advantage. Another of the fucking cornball ideas from Bud Selig. Asshole couldnt run the Brewers for years, and now he is ruining baseball with cornball ideas like this and interleague play. Enough with this horseshit. And also lets let on people who deserve to be on there, IE John Maine, Jimmy Rollins, and enough of this special olympics shit where everyone gets a gold medal by having all teams represented.

Underrated defense and terrific offense should have been recognized.

maybe just take 3 OF reserves and put Hanley Ramirez/Rollins or Renteria on the team

also maybe Moligna over McCann...or even Estrada
