I have some performance films I wanna put up on Youtube. I have burned them to DVD. What do I need to do & what software is required to get these as files on to my Hard Drive & to edit them?

I have been told by various experts @ The Apple Store, & The Mac Expert @ CompUSA That either Toast or Popcorn will do it. 1st off, Popcorn appears to me to be Toast Lite (or Lite Toast?)! & Toast seems to be about copying & burning DVDs, there doesn't appear to be access to the files for separate storage or manipulation. I have also been told that the Lite version of Final Cut will do it, then the Mac Expert @ CompUSA said that won't work unless you have the Full version of final cut & the lite version serves as some kind of upgrade, which just sounds like crazy talk to me!!! But what do I know anyway???

Lookin this shite up on the internets is like decoding the Rosetta stone in 3-D glasses!!!

Please... HELP!!!

I don't have a burner on my mac (it's my laptop), but I know there's handbreak to rip cds. It's the most popular DVD to iPod converter.

Search download.com or google, I have found one before but I dont recall the name. Most programs just copy the dvd for another burning.

Good suggestion, I ended up finding that link by googling. or is it gogaling?
How do you conjegate the verb to Google anyways>???

My last link is to some instructions on using FFMPEGX (http://www.ffmpegx.com/). I've used it before and had completely forgotten about it. And you can now rip from DVD directly into the format bobo wants which is .flv for posting to youtube.

I just installed it, and i'm noticing that the instructions I linked is using version "W" and that's 1 version old as the latest version is "X". I'm going to play with it today if I get a chance so lemme know if you get stuck :)

Try Perian.org (http://perian.org/) or VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/) if the above suggestions don't work Bobo.

Wow I never knew about perian, thanks for the link. I wonder if this also helps in front row? Sometimes I run across files that play fine in VLC but don't play the audio with Front Row.

I'm gonna play with it and find out!!

Duuuude...
Perian rocks the fat ass!!
I guess Front Row must use quicktime to drive it after all (((like it could use anything else duh(stop chastising yourself within the parenthesis(OK fine)))

I'm going to call this software a "must have" for anyone with a mac.
