that is the shame of david stern and his stupid ass

Why blame Stern for Portland being on the West Coast?

It's true, though. I lOVE basketball, but the NBA is nearly unwatchable. Too many teams, for one. And the league gives in too much to TV with it's scheduling. Stern always backs up his decisions with numbers and polls, but I think he's driving fans away.
Durant HAS to go second, right?
Boston sending #5 to Seattle for Ray Allen!

i dont blame him for that
but for scheduling the games so late
instead of 10:30 games make the 8:45 or 9 pm east coast time, thats reasonable for the west coasters only at 545 or 6

Ray Allan to Boston is a great trade for the Celts

Don't east coast games start at 7 or 7:30 local time. Wouldn't that be a problem for the west coast?
Ritalin

How long do they give teams to pick in the NFL? This 5 minute time limit is smart. Keeps the thing moving along.
I love Green at #5.....now I just want Conley or Horford @ #6 for Milwaukee!

I was thinking the same thing. That 15 minutes in the NFL is just stupid.

15 in the NFL for the 1st rd. But they are shortening it to 10mins to make it go faster and have it on Prime Time tv. At least, that what i read. Also, The Ray Allen deal is sooo bad. His best yrs are behind him. Oy.

its not like these nfl guys have to make the decision in that time, they usually have a group of guys they want and have to see who's left before picking
all the other crap gets done pre draft

Danny Ainge is a pretty awful GM.
Fuck you Memphis!
Now I hope the Bucks trade down at #6.

Somewhere else where he can be marketed better, like Chicago. Since the Bulls are known, big city etc. They feel that if he goes to a team they don't like, no one will buy jerseys and such. its all about money.

To me Noah is an energy guy and that's it. He excelled in college by being an athlete...but that shit don't play in the association. Plus that sideways shot? Christ is that ugly.

I don't know how to feel about the Celtics' trade. I guess Ray Allen helps them contend immediately since the Atlantic is so weak.

Randolph averaged 23.6 points and 10.1 rebounds. In the West, thats fucking impressive.. They do have Randolph Morris.. WHo people say if he was in the draft, He would have been 10-15th pick.. Dickau is a pass 1st pg which we need, And Fred Jones is not terrible.. Looking a Randolphs stats and those other facts.. I really like it now..

06-28-2007, 06:45 PM
Channing Frye is a nice player, but the guy averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds last year, it's not like he set the world on fire. They got rid of Francis's deal and as Kevin said, picked up a proven scorer inside scorer who must be double-teamed. I think it's a solid move for them, although Zach Randolph in NYC is a scary prospect.
I saw somebody questioned Noah to the Bulls, I thought that was a perfect pick for them also. Between Deng, Gordon and Hinrich they already have three proven scorers. Combine that with the height and presence of Thomas, Wallace and Noah and that's a great top 6. Plus, assuming Thomas and Noah do well, they may be able to trade Wallace at some point before his ridiculous contract is up.
Seattle is going to have a really interesting team next year if they resign Rashard Lewis. Durant, Jeff Green and Lewis would be a very difficult group of players to guard if they can get on the court at the same time.

That is a great deal for the Knicks. You're getting 23 and 10 a night and getting rid of a useless Steve Francis. Don't love giving up Chandler but you gotta give up something. And Dickau and Jones are ok pieces. The Knicks can certainly contend for the Atlantic next year...
But I'm a Nets fan and I'm in loooove with their selection of Sean Williams. Character issues or not, the kid is a monster defensively and can rebound. GOODBYE JASON COLLINS YOU WASTE OF BREATH....
Couple other thoughts:
1. Sure the Celtics get a little better with Jesus Shuttlesworth, but this is a team that needs to rebuild, not fine-tune. Maybe with some luck, they can squeeze the 8 seed. And Doc and Danny will keep their jobs for another year. Sucks to be a C's fan right now.
2. Love Corey Brewer. Even at 7 i think he was a tad underrated. 4th best player in the draft IMO.
3. Acie Law is a gamer. If he brings that killer instinct to the Hawks, they gotta be able to win a few games...
Well, interesting night. Can't wait to read the sports guys column tomorrow about his beloved Celtics.

Yes it does suck. The trade for Ray Allen would have made sense...5 YEARS AGO. I like the Sports Guy's C-Webb for Mitch Richmond analogy: he's spot-on as always.
I DO like the Big Baby pickup. He's a big body down low and that's 6 fouls. I'll take that.

6:14: Good God, Isiah finally made a good trade! It happened! Somehow, he just landed Zach Randolph for Channing Frye and Stevie Francis! I'm shocked! What's happening to this league? Even Isiah is doing the right thing! I can't stop using exclamation points! How was that the best Portland could do for Randolph??? He's good for a 25-10 in the East! And if it doesn't work out, who cares? They gave up a bad contract and a half-decent forward to take a $50 million flier on a dominant low-post player. Great move. I stand by these thoughts even if Zach starts an international incident at Scores within the next nine months.
(Follow-up note: I think Portland GM Kevin Pritchard spent an hour thinking about it and decided, "You know what? Just to be safe, maybe it's best that Oden and Randolph never, ever, ever meet. Call Isiah and tell him we say yes to the crappy Francis-Frye offer. We can't mess around.")
6:16: It's only fitting that Stern's microphone went out right as he was announcing New Jersey's 17th pick: troubled BC star Sean Williams, the perfect rebounder/shot-blocker on paper for the the Nets. Unfortunately, Sean couldn't attend the draft because he's home watching "Planet Earth" on Blu-ray and eating three bags of Doritos at once.
This is why Simmons is the best sports writer,by far
