Uncomfortable Questions about the Death Star Attack (http://www.websurdity.com/2007/02/28/uncomfortable-questions-was-the-death-star-attack-an-inside-job)
I never really thought about it, but after reading these accusations, I think there is something there. Was it a true inside job? Or was it just allowed to happen? Maybe it was the perfect excuse to for the Empire to tighten it's grip on the galaxy?
See for yourself. Some highlights:
Why did Grand Moff Tarkin refuse to deploy the station’s large fleet of TIE Fighters until it was too late? Was he acting on orders from somebody to not shoot down the rebel attack force? If so, who, and why?
Why was the rebel pilot who supposedly destroyed the Death Star reported to be on the Death Star days, maybe hours, prior to its destruction? Why was he allowed to escape, and why were several individuals dressed in Stormtrooper uniforms seen helping him?
http://www.websurdity.com/images/thepetbantha.jpg
How could any pilot shoot a missile into a 2 meter-wide exhaust port, let alone a pilot with no formal training, whose only claim to fame was his ability to “bullseye womprats” on Tatooine? This shot, according to one pilot, would be “impossible, even for a computer.” Yet, according to additional evidence, the pilot who allegedly fired the missile turned off his targeting computer when he was supposedly firing the shot that destroyed the Death Star. Why have these discrepancies never been investigated, let alone explained?

i remember someone saying somewhere that there were DEMOLITION crews seen working in some restricted areas a few nights prior. Why would they be working at night? What were they doing? I think the whole thing was a controlled explosion.

The emperor was doing this to collect on his insurance policy. He'd just leased it out for 99 years.

could there have been some sort of "missle" or projectile fired at the structure that maybe we cannot see?

well, the Bothan spies were on the inside, but no, I don't think the destruction of the Death Star was a ruse.
Maybe it was the perfect excuse to for the Empire to tighten it's grip on the galaxy?
The Empire didn't need an excuse to tighten its grip at that point. The clone war and the Jedi "Rebellion" was used as an excuse to basically make the senate a feckless body. The Death Star was the tool to maintain the empire' control. They already had absolute power in the galaxy. there really was no way to ratchet up more control over the systems.
I'm much more concerned about these reports about a rebel fleet assembling near Solis. I hope the Emperor doesn't ignore the Emperor's Daily Briefing entitled "Rebels determined to strike Empire"

Question #1: Pride.
Question #2: How did he escape? The force.
Question #3: The force again.
And the reason they attacked the Death Star was because rumors of WMD's were rampant throughout the galaxy.

who had the most to gain by the destruction of the death star? Who was lost on it? Who was able to use that "failure" to move upward within The Empire?

This shot was taken after hours, moments before the blast from a security camera from the sector 450M gift shop. Notice the double doors behind the assailant, they were known to lead directly to a corridor adjacent to the main generator room.

Don't worry, the Imperials will not stand for this attack. The are enaging in a war on terror, currently pursuing the desperate band of terrorists believed to be hiding in a series of caves on the barren planet of Hoth. I think they're actually a bunch of religious extremists, who follow the orders of their spiritual leader, a man with a beard from the desert wearing long robes...

I'm pretty sure the whole Star Wars thing is a made up story. I could be wrong, though.

do not buy in to the liberal media's plan of down playing the seriousness of these events.

My children are being taught in the academy that this"force" is a bunch of nonsense and the galaxy just through a series of random acts...nothing binding it, surrounding it or keeping it together.
It's a lost generation I tell ya. No belief in a higher power, total dependence to the Hutts, and all they do now is stare at the suns while they set, always looking to the future, never on where they are, or what they are doing.
Mouthing off to the locals too. My kid's best friend was put in the detention center overnight. He was pulled over and actually told the cop "you don't need to see my identification" His Aunt and Uncle must be proud.

Why can't you Jedi-ists get it through you thick skull: Jedi-ism is dead! The Republic fell because Jedi-ism is a flawed system! IT DOESN'T WORK!!! The sooner you hippies realize this the better. Chairman Yoda is dead!

My friend here is trying to convince me that any independent contractors who were working on the uncompleted Death Star, were innocent victims when they were destroyed by the Rebels.

Look, we all know that the carbonite alloy used to build the Death Star melts at 1260 centons, and a proton torpedo explosion only generates 850 centons.

rumor had it that the empire let it get blown up so they could increase the instellar fuel prices across the galaxy and blame it all on the rebels attacking them
I don't care if I have to be the last man to go down on the last Star Destroyer but I will not be a part of any movement that will consort with the likes of Wookies and Ewoks. Imperial POWER.
