i recently bought a 500 gb hd
im asking if i can make 200 gbs or so ntfs
and then make the rest fat-32
is that even possible?

Yes, you can make seperate fat32 and NTFS partitions. I suggest making the FAT32 partition first. That will allow devices that don't recognize NTFS to find it easily. I don't know why you want to use FAT32, but Windows cannot format a FAT32 partition larger than 32 GB. Also, the maximum filesize is only 4GB in FAT32. You have to use 3rd party applications if you want a larger partition.

You partition and format the drive in Windows using the Computer Management tool. On the left-hand side, you will see Disk Managment, and from there it's pretty straightforward.
