I see a parallel between this and Earl trying to get Dave fired. Dave is Sam Perlozzo, admittedly inadequate, but who could succeed with leadership like that? Earl is Peter Angelos...the inept, unfeeling leader of the R&F production team.

Yeah but Earl has superiors and can be fired/removed himself...
Angelos won't ever leave...and I hope he never does
That just means more and more and more people will come down south and support my Nats and our brand new stadium with our brand new bright future and our not-very-talented-but-extremely-likeable-and-easy-to-root-for team
I actually tried to call the show with this SpyReport today but I either got disconnected or hung up on...apparently if it's not Yanks or Mets, no one cares.
Girardi figures to be the next manager according to ESPN.

Yeah, I admit the comparison was a bit of a stretch. As a Red Sox fan, I'm happy to see the O's struggle, but I do feel sorry for their fans. At least they've finally wised-up and stopped showing up.
We should have a rf.net DC baseball night at RFK. Bama would probably go. I think AKA is a Nats fan.

I don't....I had the O's shoved down my throat for the first 22 years of my life. I had no local baseball team to root for growing up, and looking back on it now, I missed out on a whole hell of a lot. But every GODDAMN SEASON i had to hear and read about the stupid O's 24/7....I'm pleased as punch that their team stinks, and I hope they stink forever (and then Angelos moves them when enough people stop coming, and then they have to wait 36 years for another team)
And I can't help but feel the irony of Ravens fans who claim the Redskins were "shoved down their throats" by DC after the Colts left, but seem to forget the transgressions of their baseball team.
April 14, 2005 was one of the greatest days of my life, and something I will never, ever forget

You can't be seriously comparing redskins vs O's in DC? Baseball was present at most 3 months of dc's consciousness, and even then as the #2 story. They didn't talk baseball in March in DC--they talked about Skins. If the skins had ever made a trade on opening day, there wouldn't have been a peep about the orioles on tv or radio.
Also DC picked up the O's as their team. The drop off in attendence coincided with the arrival of a team in DC, all those O's fans that live down that way stopped coming up. My company in Virginia finally stopped having O's tickets this year (2 years after the team showed up).
Baltimore never picked up as the skins as their team. Most folks were (and a lot still are) Steeler's fans. eff'n Steelers fans.

Don't feel bad for Baltimore fans, we're paying our penance with this bad owner, but the next one will be Cal. And it will be glorious!

1) The drop off in attendance coincided with the fact that the Orioles have crapped the bed since 1997, long before the Nats came to DC. Peter Angelos would like to have you believe that the drop off in attendance is due to the Nats, but its due to his own team's inept marketing and less than stellar management. Plus, the guy used the "threat" of DC baseball as an excuse to not spend money on his own team, which means they don't sign any free agents, although their ego is so massive, the claim to be in "the hunt" for every single big name that comes out. And if anyone rooted down here for the Orioles, it was because they were marketed very aggressively here, down to where there were "Orioles Fan Fests" every spring right here in the District, which made me sick, even though, as Peter Angelos once claimed, "there's no real baseball fans in DC". Besides, there are PLENTY of smaller markets that support more than one baseball team (the Bay Area in SF/OAK, STL/KC, Dallas/Houston with the Rangers and Astros....hell, Montreal and Toronto worked out pretty well, until the 94 strike happened).
The point is, if Angelos wants to compete with the Nats, he's going to have to spend money, which he does not want to do. Which is why the Nats coming here was good for Baltimore and Orioles fans, because now not only do they have an alternative to watching that disaster unfold every night at Camden Yards (although it brings joy to my heart to see), and its going to force management to spend money to keep their fans around.
2) I never said that Baltimore picked the Redskins as "their team". What I was referencing was Baltimore fans who referred to the Redskins as being "shoved down their throats" by the same aggressive marketing that their baseball team conducted down in the District.
3) And I DO realize this is a Redskins town....it always has been, and always will be unfortunately.
