Superbad R-Rated Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd5TE47Gjts)

The MPAA is actually making them take these down unless you have to go through an age verification process first. So, I'm not sure how long this will be available.

Anyway, the movie looks good. But I've been fucked over by trailers before. This definitely brought back some highschool memories for me.

Nice fucking call-back that probably only you and me get. And by the way, I wore the black uniform. It was a Halloween party and only the inferior races would wear khaki after Labor Day.

I was very excited for this movie, then I saw Knocked Up, which is essentially the same people, and now I'm super excited for this movie.

Plus, I love seeing people who were in Arrested Development because it reminds me of the three great seasons we had.

this could possibly be an example of the trailer having the only funny scenes from the movie. maybe not...i'll rent it when it's on dvd and let you know.

saw it midnight last night. Off the charts funny, just a fuckin panic. in my opinion, it goes in the pantheon of great comedies.

and both midnight shows were sold out. They projected this movie to make $25 million. I'm gonna say it grosses more than double that. Everyone I know is seeing it this weekend. Radio Psychic: $54 million dollars.

I'm all for funny but nobody has a problem for how completely unbelievable the two cops are....They have a lot of screen time and basically act like 5-year olds.

I'm likely to say it is within the realm of possibility that two morons like that could exist on any police force for a few months ....and that there are plenty of scumbags who are law enforcement but still.....I think the few cops out there that are doing a good job might be a wee bit insulted

are you serious? you don't like this movie for the same reason you don't like "knocked up," not because the characters are unbelievable, but because you find the situation people not being miserable unbelievable

I guess you're saying that I'm miserable......

look....I laughed a lot at all three movies but....

believe it or not...I found the 40 Year old Virgin the most believeable

Knocked up...the guy's living off a $30,000 settlement for over 10 years...come on!!!

things like that take me out of the movie and take away from the laughs

The difference is Caddyshack is a guilty pleasure that took years to get any respect......

these movies are being praised like they are great art.....Funny...yes....but good....
let's say that it's debatable

I really liked the 40 yr old virgin but thought knocked up was forced joke after forced joke. I'm actually excited for Superbad. Its getting great reviews, I just hope its not as forced as Knocked Up. Is it paul?

EDIT: I just watched that R-rated Trailer...fuck it...this movie looks fucking hilarious!!!

Look it's all funny but the two kids are believable....like the joke i beat to death on the air...
two gay guys looking for pussy....that's the heart of the movie....and it's funny and true.....
no they're not gay.....they're nerds or geeks or unpopular or whatever you want to call it....and their brains are not yet formed and their hormones are taking over....I believe that

"Great art?" I haven't seen that at all. Veing prasied as very well done and incredibly funny comedies, sure...but "great art?" Please link me to one review that does anything even close to that.

And I don't understand your excuse for Caddyshack...these other comedies you get pulled out of because they're not "realistic," yet CS is off the hook because it's a "guilty pleasure?" What? A comedy is a comedy. Two moron cops take you of a film, but a bishop getting struck by lightning on a golf course for damning God is something you accept as totally normal?

I don't have a tremendous respect for law enforcement even though I technically belong to that community......Look the cops in Reno 911 are funny because they are stupid.....
Maybe the reason I don't like the two cops in Superbad so much is because they're behavior crosses the line from really stupid to the seriously criminal....I won't go into detail at this point...but some of their behavior is so reprehensible that it stops being funny....

I saw the movie and I have no idea what Paul-O is tlaking about. Yes, their behavior is absurd, but so is the entire movie. You're basically hinting at like Bad Lieutenant territory...they were ridiculous characters in a ridiculous movie.

TheMojoPin
08-18-2007, 12:14 PM
Paul-O couldn't make it through Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle because the cheetah scene took him out of what was until then a totally realistic movie.

hammersavage
08-18-2007, 12:26 PM
Paul, it was originally written as a PARODY.

the cops are supposed to be absurd, just like the ID worked on the liquor store girl and a bunch of other things. in alot of scenes they dropped the absurdity and went for the realistic portrayal (the sex scene between Evan and Becca).

I thought the cheetahs behavior in Harold and Kumar was entirely consistent with Cheetah behavior......besides Harold and Kumar was not so highly praised as Superbad.....

I saw it last night, too. It was hysterical. I can't wait until this is on HBO. McLovin was great

My only complaint is that they cut the "It's a nice looking dick" line from the R-Rated version of the trailer.

Saw it last night, it was pretty funny. I enjoyed it, but it's not the kind of movie I'd bother to buy or watch again.

It was kinda weird seeing Jonah Hill starring in a major film, as I remember him doing comedy troupe videos at my school a few years back.

He's talking about it looking kind of like a hamburger. Ball on top, dick in the middle, ball on the bottom. Like a division sign.

Very funny movie.

Paul, you don't get it. A big part of the reason that all the stuff with the cops is funny is because they're cops. It's not supposed to be realistic. You're supposed to think "what the fuck? They're doing THAT!?! But they're cops!" THATS THE FUCKING POINT, PAUL.

They hit a kid with their car and then want to railroad him...this after being so buddy buddy they're letting him use their service revolvers for target practice....
not believeable.......lots of stuff is fucking hysterical in the movie....not that

I saw the movie with a friend who happens to be a cop. He loved it, as did I.

And thanks to my DVR I hadn't seen one commercial for it and the only thing I knew about it was the kid from AD was in it.

Awesome movie.

this is no 'classic'. it stunk HARD. the ending was one of the worst hollywood bullshit fuckin happy bollocks in a loooong time.

the story is driven by the cops- who stop being amusing after about 5 mins, the arrested development kid cant carry a leading role, fat guy was alright but i didnt find him funny, infact the acting was terrible overall and the whole experience was excruciatingly obvious and formulaic.

one of the worst movies ive seen in a while. ..enjoy all the hilariously ironic merch.

edit- dug the soundtrack

mildly amusing

it was funny, not all time classic funny...nobody plays akward like Michael Cera...he was fucking hysterical..."i'm so wet right now"..."yeah, they said that would happen in health class"

09-10-2007, 06:43 PM
yea, Michael Cera is an awesome actor. I just hope he doesn't get type-casted. but hey, for a 19 year old actor, he's pretty level-headed. I'd even say he's a young bob newhart. Even though, I'm not that familar with Mr. Newhart, I see the same twinkle in their eye. (whatever the fuck that means)

I watched this last night, and never once even thought about being insulted.

I remember when Super Troopers came out, I refused to see it because I thought it was making fun of cops as a profession. I finally caved and watched it on cable and it was hilarious.

Anyway... I liked this movie, and was impressed with the kid's acting. I couldnt help but think that adults acted it out first, then they filmed the kids mimicking the adults. That fat kid delivered his lines exactly like the fat cop would.

And yeah, I thought the fat kid was actually gay... just trying to once again fit in with society by being straight.
