blinds/curtains open or closed at night?

The minute it gets a little dark out I shut the blinds and curtains in our home but I see that some neighbors have NO curtains or leave them open all night. I can't stand the thought of someone seeing inside my house from outside at night but apparently this doesn't bother some people and I can't figure out why. Do you close your blinds or leave them open? And why?

I have no neighbors So I don't close blinds I do like the block out darkness though for sleep

I don't mean just bedroom windows. I have to have the blinds closed in the kitchen so no one can see me cooking! I just don't like the thought of someone seeing me when I can't see them.

I always have my bedroom blinds closed, but I'm actually MORE paranoid when the rest of the blinds are closed. I don't like not being able to see what's going on outside my house at night.

The two windows in my bedroom face our yard and then the neighbor's yard.


We usually always have the blinds closed, i try to pop them open every now and then for real light in the room but unless it's cool outside when we're sleeping(or lightning like last night) we don't open them when we go to bed.

Living room = blinds are open until lights out because I go on the patio to smoke.

Closed. If it weren't for the pesky fire codes I'd sleep in a room with no windows and a constant temperature of 70 degrees. Sleeping or at least layin up in the biscuit has become one of my favorite things to do. If the blinds are open and I'm laid up watchin TV I get a nasty glare. I crack on of the blinds though for the cat to sit on her perch and look outside.

No blinds or shades. Most of our windows are fairly screeened by foliage. Our bedroom is the second story of a water tower and it is enveloped in a beautiful old walnut tree. It's like being in a tree house, and this time of year, it's like being in a sea of green leaves, and very private. Winter and Fall are the seasons of exhibition for us though. It's a two-story sex show. Yeehaw!!

Open. The bedroom is on the second floor so someone walking by won't be able to see much.

On the first floor, we have some very light cutains that you can just about see through but we have nothing in the kitchen, which faces the LIRR tracks. I love having people on the train who are dying to get home look into my kitchen and see me home and cooking dinner already.
