Anybody having any experiences with the new Intel Macbook pros - or any intel mac for that matter. I've been running into a few programs that won't run.

I'm also looking for bit torrent/limewire recommendations. Any experience?

By new, did they just come out with new macbook pros? And if so, do any come with blue ray or HD DVD?

you can buy a blu-ray drive for a macbook pro, but it's like $900...

i don't know much about the new intel macs, i'm still upset about the whole thing...
but for "limewire" like programs use acquisition (http://www.acquisitionp2p.com/).
does limewire not work on the intel macs?

Thanks guys. What are the big upgrades from the old ones as I think I'm torn between a sony laptop with blue ray or a top notch mac book pro. And can you add the blue ray as someone suggested internally or is it only an attachment? I'll need it as I'm looking at a HD/Blue ray vid cam and more so storage issues will be up front without it.

Spoon, I use my Macbook for pro grade capture of still images, and I love it. Smooth as could be.

If you're going to be using external drives (and I'd assume that with video storage), the mac is great with whatever you plug into it.

For whatever that's worth.

For Bittorrent, I love Transmission (http://transmission.m0k.org/)

We bought a glossy macbook pro a few months ago at work, I didn't get to play with it too much while i was setting it up, but it is an impressive machine. I opted for the lowest end macbook recently, and it's also quite nice.

The new macbooks have a few upgrades that seem to show Apple's move towards a blu-ray standard (Apple is, after all, a member of the Blu-Ray Disc Association) ...the macbook pro is now HDCP compliant which is required for hi def playback...has an nVidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics card and an optional 1080p display for the 17" model

you can check out the blu-ray drive here (http://store.fastmac.com/product_info.php?cPath=10_2_52&products_id=195)

Thanks MA. So that's external right?

i'm pretty sure that drive is internal and you can swap it in a macbook pro...it is still rather expensive though...

Noroton Anti Virus runs on Intel Mac, but not the Firewall, and Live Update doesn't run, either.

Supposedly there's an emulation program - Rosetta - that runs silently and adapts old programs to the new chip. Honestly, I haven't had that many problems so far. There are some things - drivers for an epson printer, for example - that don't run like it did on my G4, so I think you have to look out for each piece of software on the new Intel Macs as you go along. It's not that things don't run, it's just that I've lost certain features. For example, on the Epson driver, I can't print full bleed anymore, which was one of the reasons I bought the printer in the first place.

So, just be aware, and make sure you ask about every important feature of the software you'll be using before you make the switch.

So my Final Cut Studio (currently on my powerbook g4) wont work on the mackbook pro. So I have to buy the new final cut studio.

First time I have ever felt that I am dealing with microsoft.
