Maybe it's NOT official, but it's official in a non-official way.

So, the infamous/famous Rock-a-Hula Luau is tonight, and apparently everyone from the NYC Ron and Fez fanbase is invited except for me and Tax Kuntz.

I'm not sure what to make of this development.

Apparently I don't know Mike (aka well enough to get an invite.

If only there were some kind of social situation where I'd have the opportunity to interact with him so we could get to know each other better.

You know, like a party.

You know, the good thing is, Bob and I can go have sex with our wives tonight, which means that we'll be getting more action than 70 percent of the people who attend the Luau, so we've got that going for us.

I'm the one who is actually dragging Liz to most Ron and Fez events. Liz has a particular distaste for people like Tax, even though she and Tax never interacted. Unfortunately in this fanbase, for every Tax incident you hear about, there's probably 5 incidents that you don't.

I'm not going to take my sour grapes to that extreme. It is a private party (that was discussed at great length for 2 months on 2 radio shows {at least for most of the time}). The main reason I'm upset about not being there is that there's someone I ran into recently that I haven't spoken to in 5 years that I know was at the party, and I wanted to spend time with her and her husband. And there are other's that I've been getting to know on PalTalk that I'd love to have more of an opportunity to get to know. You know, instead of sitting at my house and bitching about it online on a Saturday night.

And just as a point of reference... I know that Silera and Alkey have parties on occassion and I'm not invited to those even though my friends are. I'm not "good" friends with Silera and Alkey, more like board acquaintances, so I don't expect nor care that I'm not invited. This is more about me just being your stereotypical messageboard asshole pissed that he wasn't invited to something where he didn't know the hosts and probably wouldn't get along with 80 percent of the people who were invited. In that context, what would I have to be upset about that I wasn't invited? It's not like I'm making People Against Luaus or something.

You are not the first person to say that.

For the record: I've only met HTG once at the Bash, and I have zero issues with her whatsoever. So again, I didn't expect to be invited, although a lot of other people thought I would be. Why? Who knows. I'm not on paltalk, I don't post to a lot of other boards, my appearances on the R&F show are fleeting at best, and the biggest factor: I'M A HUGE ASSHOLE.

I know my strong opinions about the PAC (in a nutshell: they are a good idea and a good organization but I believe they are misguided in this case) probably put me on one or two people's shitlists... but honestly, happened before, happened again.

well if anyone had any questions why you were not invited, that about sums it up. I know they had about a 100 person limit on invitations, and when you think about that across the 3 or 4 main boards that support the shows, it is really a very tight guest list. I am sure her and Mike wanted to invite as many people as possible, it just sucks there was a space limitation.

actually, most hotels in the islands make you pay upfront. explains why I was eating ramen for a few weeks leading up to the wedding.

And a 100 person limit? That seems awfully low to me. I can name a bunch people who were invited that would immediately take up a good portion, and that's just from HERE, let alone the people at WB and FBA and wherever.

I disagree, the Tax bit put some heat on the wedding.

as I said, the only problem with the wedding is when it's happening. I think that's why Ron and Fez started appealing to general public people to come, because the time of day makes it hard for people to come in.

I could be wrong in this case, but the bash was sold out in a few days.

I really hope you're writing a pilot about a message board, if done right, it could be the greatest TV show ever. if done wrong it could be the greatest tv show ever.

I'm not surprised I wasn't invited (since nobody knows me anyway), but I am frustrated that they talked about it so much on the show.

I thought it was a R&F event until late last week. I was kind of excited about making a trip from Philly to finally meet a few people from the board.

Then I find out it's a private gig - what a letdown. I think I am more disappointed in myself for getting excited about something than the fact I can't go.

well I was planning on going more with the crazy party cheech and chong angle, but now I might try just try and work in a messageboard subplot to bring it more up to date, I hope your pilot get picked up first, so mind doesn't seem quite so lame.

Maybe it's time to ask yourselves some tough questions, though.

If the answer is no to these probing questions, maybe you know why.

Not to mention time spent with my chick when I was home.

I never thought I was going. I'm sure it will be a good time but I'm not in any "Inner Circle" cliques or social groups.

I hope nobody seriously believes its about an "inner circle". I swear its not. Its about inviting the people who I think of as my friends. I only started meeting .netters around the time of the Big Ass Bash, and the events since then, so i really haven't had an opportunity to get to know too many of you. Believe it or not, I'm kind of shy approaching people, so those I have gotten to know fastest in this short time, are those who have kind of gone out of their way to extend a welcome to me, or those who spend a lot of time on the Ron Fez Show Room on paltalk.

I know if "feels" like a show event to you guys, because of the way ron discussed it, but it really wasn't. It was a party that was for a kind of personal reason, and so I invited my friends many of whom I've met through the two shows. I'm actually amazed that there are soo many RF fans that i've come to be 'friends' with in such a short time.

Wow Hosp. I really don't "get" you. I met you early on, and I thought you were a great guy. The last party I had, with even less people (only 50) you were on the guest list. You did'nt come. But I didn't know you well and still dont'. After that you kind of dropped out of site. When the invites went out, you weren't and hadn't been around at all, so when I went through who to invite, there were others I spend more time with. To be completely honest, I just did'nt think about it. I invited the people I was interacting with on a daily basis. Then when you showed up last week, the guest list was pretty packed, and it was hard to add people- particularly with you kind of being a jerk about constantly bringing up how you didn't get an invite. Now, knowing the real reason you wanted to come-- all I can say is "ick". You wanted to come to a party I had, for my friends, because OTHER PEOPLE were there that you wanted to see? Ouch! Now I'm thinking, I guess I made the right call.

well if anyone had any questions why you were not invited, that about sums it up. I know they had about a 100 person limit on invitations, and when you think about that across the 3 or 4 main boards that support the shows, it is really a very tight guest list. I am sure her and Mike wanted to invite as many people as possible, it just sucks there was a space limitation.

For those who think its the "inner circle" we had about 120 guests. That's a LOT of people to have in your snobby elitist inner circle. And even though it might be a small % of people who wanted to go, its a LOT of f'ing people to have at a party you decide to throw to invite your FRIENDS at the place where you work, and its a LOT of people to feed. And again, it was for my friends. so people who never met me getting annoyed is really weird, and people who I've just kind of met once or twice-- that would also be weird of me to throw a party and invite acquaintences.

I sincerely hope people can understand that and not be mad. I'm sure nobody would have cared if I invited 10 people over for beer and pizza. I know we kind of did the party up big time, and I'm flattered that people wanted to be there enough to feel left out. I can assure you that if I were throwing a bash at a bar, I'd make it open invite, and would want everyone there.

actually, most hotels in the islands make you pay upfront. explains why I was eating ramen for a few weeks leading up to the wedding.

And a 100 person limit? That seems awfully low to me. I can name a bunch people who were invited that would immediately take up a good portion, and that's just from HERE, let alone the people at WB and FBA and wherever.

We had close to 120 guests. No more then that.

I don't know you at all, and you have no reason to listen to a word you say, but after reading this post and that god awful thread about you over at WB, I think for the sake of you own sanity, you need to try and stop attempting to explain yourself to people on the internet. From just simply reading what you have written and the seeing what you have accomplished in the past couple months, I think I can say, that you're better than that, and in the long run wasting your time explaining common sense to bitter messageboard geeks, just seems like simply that, a waste of time.
You are fucking Happy Typing Girl. You are god damned legend. If people want to give you shit, all you gotta do is ask them one simple question, "How many radio shows have you saved lately?"

you have a problem with her- man up, call the show and tell it to ronnie..i reckon he'd have a few choice words for yous.

This is the funniest yet stupidest line you have ever, ever, ever written. The sheer moron factor is off the charts.

Tell me, Mooch, and be honest here - how would I "man up" - if I had a problem with Deb (which I don't) - BY CALLING THE SHOW? If anything, that's the completely OPPOSITE of manning up.

If you have a problem with someone, you take it to them and clear the air person-to-person. Not getting the show involved. Because that is just lame and attention-whoring.

You're perceiving this as an attack on Deb, when it's not. It's basically a self-depreciating thread because I am very self-aware of how anti-social I am.

As I said before, you and I have no issues. But you have this habit of post-sniping.

If I were you, I'd be more personally insulted by Matty saying that you invited me. Trust me, it's an insult around here to be called a friend of mine.

I only heard about this party thing at a funeral on Thursday.

Every time i've been to a current event i've been pretty offput by all the palltalk shit. Lame-os. The point of going to an event is for physical, social interaction-no keyboards, no webcams.

The fact that it was invite only is cool, you're on a messageboard and mentioned on air at random 4 or 5 times every 6 months. You're a golden God.

Reading this thread was a reminder of how awkward the last couple events were for me. All the new people need to leave their delusions of grandeur at home.

Well, I realize why the luau wasn't a board event, besides what was already stated. There was no drama AT the party, which made it a great time that was enjoyed by all. I consider many people who were at the event my friends, so I was glad to spend time with them. And I'm looking forward to seeing people ((who weren't at the party)) at Bar 9 on Friday, and at Dave and Casey's wedding. I'm not calling anyone out, I just want to go hang with my friends and have fun, I have enough issues I deal with everyday that I'd rather be able to set them aside when I go out and not worry about drama and stupid bullshit.

I don't know Deb from Adam and as much as everyone talks the entire "i don't do drama" talk they rarely take the extra step to actually avoid it.

Like i said, i didnt know about the party, mainly because i dont pay attention to anything that concerns events for the most part, unless dru happens to want to go to something.

The fact is that this person and anyone with half a brain and who has been here for a substantial amount of time who has seen this happen repeatedly KNOWS that the moment the party was declared "Invite Only" they opened themselves and everyone else up for a truckload of bullshit and drama.

That's fact.

The thing is that Deb didn't promote this thing on the boards and on the show. It was Ron who brought it up on the air and ran with the gimmick, and other people started threads about it on the boards. God forbid someone should have a private party and actually invite some of the people they know from show-related boards. It's not Deb's fault that it became as big of a deal as it did. The fact that it did become such a big deal, does not put Deb in a position to lay out lots more money, and overcrowd the party by opening it up to everyone. If I was having a party in my apartment, would I invite the people I know and want to hang out with, or would I open it up to the entire listening/message board audience. I think you can figure out the answer to that.

It's unfortunate that people feel left out, but for every event that has any relation to the boards or the show, some people will feel left out. There were a lot of people annoyed that they didn't get their requests for the Big Ass Bash in on time. When Ron & Fez broadcast from the XM compound for XM employee appreciation day, they were only able to bring in a small group of listeners, so others felt left out in the cold. There are always people outside of the NYC area who are annoyed that the show talks about certain events that they aren't able to travel to.

Like i said, i dont care i wasnt invited, i dont know this girl and to be perfectly honest i dont know a lot of posters now and what i do know and have seen-downgrade.

I'm sure it wasn't just brought up on air without permission, we're not playing telephone here and that seems like a pretty dick move on anyone's part to announce a party that isn't their own.

It cant be stretched to seem as if i give a shit, i really dont. Im at work, i read a couple of posts in this thread and linked it back to the conversation i had on Thursday.

I outright said at the VIP room that i would probably not attend another board event again. So it would not put a sour taste in my mouth if i had been overlooked for someone's garage tiki torch party.

All I can say is, I wanted to have a party at my studio, and I wanted to invite my friends. I have an awful lot of friends who are on these boards. There is no way I could ever make an open invite party in what is essentially my home. So it was either have no party at all, or do what I did, and try to explain myself and hope other people will understand.

Except i know for a fact that the invite was person and their significant other. My friend possibly wanted to bring someone who is not her boyfriend but needed "approval" for him.

Okay...... ummmm.. Lets start at the top. Invites were NEVER plus guest. That said, I had no problem with people bringing their husbands/wives/girlfriends/boyfriends. HOWEVER, when you have a 100 person guest list, and you are making a PERSONAL party for your friends, if everone just brings someone else from the boards/community, it becomes essentially, an open board event. And suddenly, people who I chose not to invite, are attending my party. Given that there are a lot of people out there who don't care for me, and can't wait to post shit about my personal life on SFN and other unfriendly boards, I don't think my request was unreasonable. BEYOND that, my boss (mike) insisted that only people he knew and felt comfortable with could attend. I don't think thats unreasonable. Really, I dont'.

Moving on....it absolutely positively was brought up on air, entirely without my knowledge. I won't use the phrase "without my permission" because I frankly don't think Ron requires permission to discuss something like this. I am honored that he even knows who I am or cares to discuss anything I do. So am I upset that he did? Nope. But did I ask him to? Or even tell him i would want him to? No. Or even know about it? No. Maybe I should have thought to ask him in advance NOT to discuss it, but I didnt.

Btw, it does sound like your pissed. "Garage tiki torch party"?

grlNIN, Don't Give This A Second Thought!

You Are On Plenty Of People's A LIST!!

My party was NOT Alisters. There were plenty of alisters that I don't know well enough and so I didn't invite, but would be honored to know better, like pixie, leticia, jerseyrich, mooch, spoon, and tons of others. You too fat sunny! Try to remember- I'm still pretty new in the RF community, and I'm just getting to know all of you. Gimme some time! I'm not a bad person, I swear!

Hey, how YOU doin'?

Please don't try and explain yourself anymore. I know you want to clear the air about all this, but people will always want to be included in everything and will be jealous of others. It's human nature.

If you're out on Friday night, I'll introduce myself to you...after that, it's your responsibility to invite me to everything you do from then on. If not, you're on the FUCK-O list.
