I've noticed that whenever I've entered a word less than 4 letters, it will not search and this message pops up:
The search term you specified (Bob) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.
BUT... if I enter a name, say, Bob Barker, I get the same message.
This limits the search function. An error, or do I just have to always use 4 letter words?
I wasn't looking for Bob Barker, just using him as an example. Have your pets spade or neutered.

I've found that happens any time you use more than one word. The problem goes away if you use quotes.

It was because one of the terms in your search was only three letters long (or fewer).

This limitation sucks, the other day I was trying to search for the DC bar night thread by just searching for DC. It wouldn't let me do it. Then I just tried bar. Still, no luck! This is very annoying for someone as lazy as me.

yeah, when you're looking for something like "10k" there's no way to get that into extra characters. :(
