I was putting gas in my HHR yesterday, and I've noticed since the rise of gas prices that its getting harder and harder to hit the mark......in that I mean, like $20.00 or however much you put in. I always get 20.01 or .02....its so annoying to me.
anyone else notice that or is this just a Fez Whatley like OCD of mine?

By law, I am not allowed to pump my own gas. But when I travel out of state, I simply enter the dollar amount I would like to put in the tank and sit back.
A perfect .00 every time.

Its definitely become more difficult to hit an even # pumping gas. I think I have better luck just trying to let go of the handle when I think its about to hit $20 then trying to inch up to it.

We are all fancy, fancy men in The Garden State. Pumping one's own gas is for hayseeds and unsophisticates.

I hate having my gas pumped for me in Jersey.
I love taking road trips out of the area because pumping your own gas is so much faster, especially when you use a credit/debit card at the pump. You swipe, you pump, you leave. The only thing holding you up is you. You move as fast as you want. You never wait for the one guy who has to watch 10 pumps to come over to you to pump your gas. He starts it then walks away and you wait like 5-10 extra minutes to come back to you to finish up and take your money or give you your credit slip.
I fucking hate NJ gas station.
Oh sorry, my point was supposed to be that you get these jerkoffs who just let the pump run until it automatically stops itself and they just pull the nozzle out at that exact point and that's the amount that gets charged to your card. You can't do much because you aren't allowed to pump your own gas and it usually happens so fast he's already put the nozzle back into the pump, there by sending the signal to start printint your receipt. Very annoying.

i 2nd moe on that, though.
its much more faster if i can pump it myself, esp when i use my card.
but, if we had to do that in nj, wow.... i dont even want to imagine.
actually, there was an exxon up on 22e in mountainside.
i remember stopping there many times on the way home from the bar, and you could pump your own gas. the kid working was usually face down fast asleep in the office.

Waiting for some unwashed savage or punk kid to FINALLY come over and give you slow, shitty service is hardly being treated like a king.
And that whole "Full Service" thing where they check your oil or washer fluid if you ask is a fucking thing of the distance past. They won't even wash your windshield anymore. It's
1. Find out what grade and how much. (usually can't understand you because you said it in English so you say it 4 times)
2. Start pumping and walk away (This is the time when the thing will click off in the middle of filling for some reason and he won't come back for a nother 5 minutes)
3. When you're done, you have to wait for the douchebag to come back and remove the nozzle and either take your money or give you your receipt. (he's either gone to another pump at this point or went back in that center hut they all have so it takes that much longer)
OR you could pull up, swipe your card, pump exactly how much you want, take receipt and leave.

I live in Morris county and work in Passaic county near West Milford. I also spend a lot of time driving through Sussex to get to PA to visit my friends. I know all about the area and it's no better than the eastern parts of Jersey in my opinion.
You get unwashed savages further east and punk kids out west.

I always fill my tank. Hitting the mark is just pure luck for me.
I used to secret shop Shell stations. One of the things I had to test was pumping speed. The pumps were not supposed to pump a gallon in less than 10 seconds. I've noticed a lot of stations are WAY faster than that, thereby making it harder for you to hit the mark.

say you wait till you are on fumes to fill up.
1.5 gallons.
say you have a toyota with a 19 gallon tank.
17 gallons x 10 seconds= 170 seconds / 60 seconds = 2.8 minutes to fill up.

Maybe it was less than 10. It was a long time ago. I just know some pumps are too fast.
