I saw this yesterday afternoon on ESPN and the fact it took untill today to have someone post it here is pretty telling of the excitement it's getting.

Cuban is a friend of OnA. Any chance of a pregame show?

I'm holding out a lot of hope for XFL 2.0.

From what I have been gathering this league is separating itself from the past failures by getting rich and powerful owners who can 'force' the league to stay a float until it may have time to catch on...

I was very surprised to see that they believe the first games will be in August '08 - that's pretty friggin' optimistic.

...Only if they continue 'the football faceoff' instead of the coin flip to determine possession.

There is another league that was suppose to start this year but delayed the start til next year.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_American_Football_League

In order to play in the league you will need a 4 year college degree. The teams wont own your rights but the league will. They will put the teams in College towns and work out deals to play at their stadiums. They even want to have as many players from those local college teams on the same teams togther.

The league sounds like a extra year of college football for those who want to continue to play but wont make it to the NFL. (A pro-college league)

I think this type of league would make it. Just because it wont play at the same time as the NFL and it wont be in NFL cities but big time college town. States like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa etc who are huge football states but have no pro teams will eat this up.

I Heard the the UFL Games will be played on UHF. Remember the USFL, had a few good years then lost steam, not enough talent to spread around. America's Mind Set is on the NFL and Its the One Sport who gets the Least complaints. This league will fold like High Card 9.

Direct competition with the NFL = DEATH for an upstart league.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

If you want to succeed with a pro football alternative, it would have to start in the winter and last into spring. Bridge the gap from the Super Bowl through the early baseball season when sports fans are starved for entertainment.

AND PUT THE FUCKING GAMES ON TV ON SUNDAY...NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH FOOTBAL ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY NIGHT...especially not at night. If you want to succeed your main games of the week need to be Sunday @ 1 & 4, no other time. And if whatever networks you talk to won't give you Sunday timeslots, you don't give them your product. With the right advertising, you would do better on the God-awful Vs. network on sunday than ABC on Saturday night.

The USFL's problem was that idiot Trump decided to put it in direct competition with the NFL...which as Crippler already pointed out, isn't a good idea

They ran a story not too long ago on the USFL and their anti trust lawsuit, which they won against the NFL, but the jury claimed that although the NFL was a monopoly, the USFL had been run into the ground by its own incompetent management, so the Jury awarded them one dollar in damages, which was then tripled by law, so they recieved a check from the NFL for $3.76 (Its still never been cashed). They had staked everything on receiving a huge cash settlement from the NFL, and when that didn't happen, it was over Johnny

Competition is always good...i'd love to see something that would actually make the NFL's now terrible product worth watching

And maybe someone should try to get MLB's Anti-Trust exemption revoked....its an archaic law that needs to be changed

Maybe not a direct competitor up front, but if they build it up (look at the Arena Football League and their successes), it would be nice to see another league making a run for it
