What was the last new vinyl album you bought before making the switch to CD's? I'm not counting used ones. I still buy those from time to time. I'm pretty sure my last one was...

All Of Fat's Last Vinyl's Were 12" Singles...Cause You Couldn't Get Them On CD. Very Last One Was Either "Love In The Shadows" By EG Daly Or "Pop Goes The Word" By Men Without Hats.

i've never bought a full length vinyl record. i got into cd's incredibly late, but before that it was all tapes. i also didn't get into music until like my junior/senior year of high school.

Shit!!! I didn't even think about what the first CD was. That period of time involved many mobile moments for me. I stopped buying music and just recorded my friend's music on cassette tapes. Alarm was one of them. I was a freeloading bastard in the late 80's!

misterquaid

Tapes were the worst! I hated buying prerecorded cassettes, I stuck w/albums and put them on blank tapes for walkman use or trading and sharing.

Last album - Dead Kennedys - Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death

Wow...that's a tough one. I'd probably have to go through all of my LPs and see the release dates, but if I had to guess I'd say it was AC/DC's "Fly On The Wall."

This is the last new album I bought on vinyl. Almost 15 years ago! I'm pretty sure I only bought the album rather than the CD for the novelty of the green vinyl too.

It's been a really long time since I bought any vinyl--at least 2 years. I can't remember, either Yeah Yeah Yeahs--Fever to Tell (picture disk), Flogging Molly--Drunken Lullabys (picture disk), or my buddies the Slumlords (record release special edition, hand number #50/100).

I honestly don't think I've ever bought a vinyl record. As a kid, my parents bought me vinyl records (including a Spike Jones compilation), but on my own, I bought tapes until I got a CD player for Christmas when I was 16.

It's kind of funny: at the time, a CD player was so expensive, relatively speaking, that my parents made it clear that it would be all I'd get for Christmas, which was OK. Last time I was at Target, I saw a portable CD player for $8. They're cheaper than most of the CD's.

Yes, I am an old fart.

I've got two answers:

When I was a kid the last album I bought was:

I had gone almost completely CD in the mid 80s, but I would guess it was one of these four because (at the time) they weren't available on CD:

That was my third to last. Styx / Kilroy Was Here and Duran Duran / Rio were my last. Got them through my part of a five-way membership to Columbia House.

I can't believe I just admitted that.

It was Culture Club - Karma Chameleon.

I really loved that record.

I was just a kid...

I decided after a few weeks to paint the record with my Mom's red nail polish.

I never listened to the album again.
