Lottery ticket misprint a $500k dispute (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/17/lottery.misprint.ap/index.html)
This couple in Florida scratched a lottery ticket, and thought they won 500,000 but the ticket was misprinted. He needed to match a 1 for 500,000 but the number 13 printed out halfway and only showed the 1, and underneath the word thirteen was cut to " thi " I'd fight this to the end even if I saw that it was misprinted, but deep down I'd know it was just a fuck up.
Check the video to see the ticket

That's unfortunate, but I don't know if buying a misprinted lottery ticket qualifies as getting screwed.

reminds me of the screw-up with the ny post a few years back. my mom was one of MANY people who thought they won 10k and got jack. i still don't know how they got away with that. even if they weren't supposed to give out that much, all the winners were independently valid. they should have insurance to cover some shit like that. hopefully someone got fired at least.

I don't know if they saw that it was a misprint to begin with, but if I didn't see the misprint, got all excited, went to claim my prize, then was told "No, look here" I'd feel pretty screwed. It's not like he said "Hey you, let me get one of them misprinted lottery tickets"

Somewhere in the small print of the lottery rules I'm sure it says something to the effect they are not responsible for printing errors. I hope they're not wasting money on lawyers.
