Trippy ass moon

I just went out for a smoke and I took a look at the moon. One sliver of it was all lit up, but I could still see the rest of the moon. I've never seen something like that before. It almost looked like an eclipse. Anyone see that shit before or even know how that works?

I do know that the big yellow one is in fact the sun. I can't help you with the moon.

I'm not sure which one it was, but the moon "waxes" and "wanes", and what you saw was one of those phases. But on a clear night, you can see the rest of the moon that isn't illuminated, craters and all. This is just the first time you probably realized it.

Yeah, I have seen it many times on a good clear night. It's amazing!
