Greetings.
We're currently winding down from the third day of our honeymoon. I know some of you might find it strange and weird that I'm posting this, but I assure you, we are not spending all day cooped up in the hotel room on the internet. The only times I've been on is usually while Liz is showering or asleep (as she needs eight hours and I only operate on four or five)
So yes... although we appreciate the concerns for our sex life, I assure you, you don't have to worry. And please remember that members of Liz's family read the board. Thanks.
Now, on to the fun stuff.
If you are unfamiliar with Hawaii, there's seven major islands, and four of them are mainly for tourism - Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and The Big Island.
Most of the major airlines fly to LA, and then go into Hawaii. There are some direct flights. I think in retrospect, when we come back, we'll go directly to Maui, even if it means changing flights in the Mainland.
We decided, since we're staying in a resort on Maui, that we'd just stay a night in Oahu, and then crossover to Maui. In retrospect, I think it was a so-so decision. There was only one major thing we wanted to do on Oahu - Pearl Harbor - but after that, we didn't find anything really worthy. I didn't like Oahu at all.
I was kind of depressed the first night; I was expecting Oahu to be a spectacular paradise, and it was... sucky. I mean, there are Jersey Shore towns (Avalon, Deal, and a few others come to mind) that are better looking than some areas of Honolulu. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake, but.. whatever.
Then we flew into Maui. It's a quick puddle jumper, but they use 737's much in the same way we'd use a bus or a train here. There was quite a few commuters and students who jump from island to island to see friends or get to work.
When we landed in Maui, I didn't get a full look at the island, but there was definitely a different vibe in Maui than there was in Oahu.
I got my rental car, and the rental agency was in the middle of switching over the beat up 2006's for 2007's. The car they had waiting for me was dirty, and stained. This would not do.
"What can do you do for me?" I asked the rental agent.
"Good news! I have one with five miles on it. Brand new. You get to break it in."
NICE!
So here's the ride:

As much as I didn't like and was depressed by Oahu, I love, love, love Maui. It's amazing. it's the Hawaii I always dreamed about.
Here is the direct view out of our hotel room. This was taken this morning around 6am local time, 12pm EST:

That is Lanai on the horizon, one of the smaller islands.
When we got here yesterday afternoon, we decided to get some snacks and stuff because this hotel seriously nickels and dimes you. Now, don't get me wrong, this place is beautiful, but it's a serious nickel and dime operation. We also wanted to get dinner.
So we decided to try a local restaurant called "Aloha Mixed Plate". Now, a mixed plate is kind of a local thing. You get one or two meats, two scoops of rice, and a scoop of macaroni salad.
Hawaiians are serious about their carbs. I like this idea.
So Liz and I enjoyed some Mai Tai's, ha some mixed plate, watched the boats in the bay, and enjoyed each other's company.
Here's Liz at the dinner table... surprisingly this is a fake smile, because she's quite hungry at this point and I think she threatened the waitress if she didn't get something to eat.

This morning we went to the Maui Swap Meet, where we got some local flavor and did some shopping. I picked up gear for the Rock-a-Hula Luau, a Ron Bennington Production (tm).
On the way, I got a snap-shot of the sun rising.

And that's it for right now. We'll have more later.
