Since Fez needs to get on a program of healthy eating and working out I thought maybe we could help support him. This might be a good chance for us all to get our lives back on track. If we all eat the same and work out together maybe Fez will feel the support. Who's ready to help Fez and help themselves?

Does Fez Know About Taking An Aspirin A Day As A Blood Thinner, And Eating Lots Of Omega-Oil-Containing Fish? Fat's Doctor Says These Are The Best Things You Can Do For Your Heart (Plus A Sensible Diet Plus Not Smoking Plus Exercising).

Anyway, It Is Not That Hard To Lose Weight. Fat's Got The Eating Under Control, And Hereby Pleges To Get Into A REGULAR Exercise Regime.

Everyone pick an eating plan that works for them.

Regularly post your progress. Talk about your good days, bad days...Ask for and give advice. Recipes??? Lets all be cheerleaders for one another. And best of all, Fez will know he's not alone. We're all in it together.

My doctor put me on Zyban about 5-6 years ago. I stopped smoking in two weeks after a 25 year habit. Talk to your doctor.

As for the Fez-ebrity fit club... I'm in! I recently lost about 25 lbs (205 down from 230 last October). The main thing is cutting down on white flour foods. I still need to lose 10-15 lbs (I'm 6' tall), and I really need to exercize more. I'm going to get the book today.

Me and my wife are one week in on our diet. We have my sisters wedding in Montauk this summer and then a huge party in LA a few weeks later. We're trying to lose all the "dating weight" we gained eating out. We're doing the southbeach thing and surprisingly its not hard at all. Even knocking off any booze at this point isn't going bad. Lots and lots of Polar seltzer. Also a real good idea to keep the fridge stocked, with things you can eat of course. Lots of grilling at night with a salad. Not bad at all. Going to get back to the gym that we dump $30 a month to also. So I guess we're in. I'm 6'2 235 would love to get back down to 200.

Docgoblin mentioned Zyban, but they have also treated smokers with low doses of Wellbutrin very successfully. It's an anti-depressant that helps with anxiety, but it also works well with cravings and the various effects of quitting smoking. You might want to check it out.

I've been reading the book. The recipes and food ideas look pretty good. The biggest problem I'll have is cutting the beer consumption... According to Dr. Smith's chart I have a BMI of 27-28 which is overweight. I gotta lose about 15 more pounds to get to an ideal weight. Given that I also have High cholesterol and High Blood Pressure I have quite a hill to climb... But for Fezzie's sake I'm gonna do it! I want to be at 185 lbs by August 1st. We should shoot for some kind of a get-together to see how we've all done... Including Fez. Lets get the show involved... Earl... Earl!... Earl!... Wake up! We have an idea for the show!

1. Phase I - Detox - This phase lasts 9 days. In this phase you will eat mostly fruits and vegetables. The idea is to cleanse your body of junk and you eliminate things like alcohol and caffeine. You can eat all the fruits & veggies you want except white potatoes and avocados. You also can have the following: legumes/beans & tofu, 1 cup of oatmeal, 2 cups of brown rice, 2 cups lowfat or 1% milk, 2 6oz yogurts and 4 eggwhites (eggbeaters) only water & 2 cups of herbal tea to drink. You also get a very limited amount of olive oil dressing to use. This Phase lasts for 9 days.

I am convinced that after listening to the show on XM and also the replays, I am going to join in on the Fez-eberity Fit Club. My situation is that 2 years ago I fell at work and broke my ankle, foot, and leg. I have been off of work for 2 years and I have gained the weight. I am a suffer of High Blood Pressure and will have a up hill battle.

When I fell I was 190 and now I am 223! I am in!! I want to get to 190 or even 185!!

I had surgery on the 2nd of May and as soon as I am able to walk, I am heading to the gym and the market and going to start eating right. I am appauled at how I look and that has to change.

What has happened to Fez and listening to Dr. Smith on O & A has given me the motivation to do something about it. My aunt just open heart surgery and I don't want to become a statistic or have that kind of scare.

Ron, you are a great friend to Fez and that shows. Earl is another story. I am sick of his yelling at people that have opinions. Oh, yeah-I used to be from MA,.

Does that make me a Masshole? Nope...didn't think so.

Let's all band together and show Fez that he can do it as well.

I was kinda curious, a while ago SR71blackbird was talking about losing some weight, any updates. I hope you pulled it off. If not this is a good reason to start it up again. I'm joining this i guess. I eat like a motherfucker and I have run everyday otherwise I'll get fat. I only eat one meal a day , but its usually a lot of spaghetti and its not the healthiest, but you have to do what you gotta do when your 30k down in loans and have 2 more years of school.

I d love to do this. I am about 40lbs from where I need to be. If I lost 40 id be 190. If I gave up beer it would be a good start.

I'm in, too.

I've been doing nutrisystem since late February and have lost 40 lbs so far and have another 140 or so to go. I don't know about the fat smash diet except for what I've heard on O+A, but nutrisystem has been working for me so far-its easy.

Fezzie, if you read this, you might want to consider something like nutrisystem, since they send you all of the food you need excpet for veggies and fruit that you need to get yourself. You can drink all of the coffee and diet soda you want, too. If effort is a problem for you, think about how easy a program that sends you most of the food you need to your door would be to stick to.

what if you are dyslexic? Does this mean you have to gain the most weight you can...in that case...m'I ni.

Look, losing weight is real simple.

You have to get yourself very motivated on the fact that this time you are really going to do it, there is no failure. You are finally going to get rid of that weight and feel miserable after eating a snickers bar and than saying ahhh, the hell with it, I broke the diet now, so might as well eat everything I can find.

Discuss this with your family physician, as no weight loss program should be started without a full check up. Make sure that your family, friends and co-workers know about this decision. Explain that it is going to be really hard and painful for you and that you will definitely need their support. The first few days will definitely be the toughest, as you endure the suffering mentally and physically that you will go through to be that skinny person you know is in there somewhere. Be the person people look at and not because your ass is so big no one can sit next to you on the train subway or bus. Be looked at cause now you are it. you walk into the room and it is like time stops. All this can be yours and remember every long journey begins with that small step. so go and take that small step

Whip out the yellow pages and find the first Doctor listed that does stomach stapling. fuck measuring portions and no carb this and low fat that. Eat it, puke it and you are good to go. You want that skinny person inside of you to come out, well than get some Doctor to slice open your stomach and set it free.

Praise be to God

'O Lord, bless this Thy hand grenade that, with it, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy.'

And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats

Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

I actually think this might work better in Iraq!!!

You're problem is easily solved

1st- Stop being so MAD. it is that anger inside that is making youheavier than you desire.

you are trying to eat away you're feelings that is causing that anger.

Come to terms with the genesis of that anger. Anxiety is anger turned inside which is also a big reason people over eat.

Ever hear of comfort food.

Find that anger, look it in the eye and say anger, you will not be the source of my unhappiness and eating binges at White Castle, 7-11 for Ben & Jerry pint fest, all night grocery stores for anything. Peanut butter, Captain Crunch, pop tarts, ready to eat pizza's, macaroni and cheese (Stouffers of course, few minutes in the microwave, good to go), chocolate chip cookie dough, cinammon french toast with powdered brown sugar, and of course armfuls of Hot Pockets.

Hope I helped

What about Bananas? They seem like the unhealthiest fruit.

I dont have the book yet, going to the book store later today, then heading straight to the food store to stock up, I'm def starting this tomorrow.

What's everyone's "last" meal today?

Oh and for the record, I believe in total I would love to lose 60 - 65 pounds but I will start off with mini goals. First goal is 10 pounds by Memorial Day Weekend!

So I just got the Fat Smash and the Extreme Fat Smash books. After skimming both I've decided to follow the Extreme Fat Smash diet since I'm leaving for Vegas and Europe in the next 4 weeks. After I get back from Europe I will go on the regular Fat smash diet.

So my question is when can you eat the recipes in the back of the book? The Extreme Fat Smash is a 3 week diet. There are recipes in the back of the book but it doesnt specify when you can eat these recipes because it seems like this diet is very strict and you have to follow the day by day instructions of what to eat. So I'm a bit confused by that. Can anyone help out?

Oh and what is everyone following? EFS or FS?

I would love to be a part of this. Ultimately I would love to lose about 40 pounds, but I would settle for around 20 in the next couple months. My problem is that I go to the gym, sometimes 4 times a week for over an hour and proceed to reward myself with junk good throughout the week. I eat horribly and drink beer. I know I need to stop that as I am basically working out just to not gain weight. The thought of all the weight I could have lost had I just ate healthy makes me sick. So, I definitely want to change and get healthier along with all of you and Fezzie. Good luck everyone!!

If anyone is D.C./NOVA area, I am walking/running the Tim Harmon 5K on June 16. I believe Fezzie did this back in the WJFK days with Keisha. (they had some sort of bet). Count me in. I have to go pick up the book tomorrow, but I will go by the phase 1 that was posted to start off my day tomorrow. I have my wedding in the end of 2008, but the summer is coming. I was able to lose 25lbs last year for lisa's wedding and I only put back on 5, but I need to lose another 20-25 to get back to my high school weight. I look at pictures and can't believe how skinnyI was then compared to now, and even then i thought i was fat.

what does the self-adoring Fat weigh, as to make such a statement calling himself the thinnest in the room?

Friday has an initial goal of re-losing the 17 lbs she has allowed herself to gain back during the past few months.
After losing and keeping 60lbs off, Friday felt like a rock star. However, when Fridays life changed completely, she found herself turning back to the comforts of food and long sleep spells to escape her pain. Now she finds that her pants are too tight and longs to return to the gym in an effort to become acceptable once again.

After that... we will see about losing an additional 20lbs.

Fat Is Not "Self-Adoring"; It Is Just That He Is About To Finish His Three Months On Nutrisytem, And He's Gone From 194 To 167 (3 Left To Go To Hit Goal Weight Of 164).

So You See, He Is Highly Sympathetic, Having Just Gone Through All This!

Now Comes The Hard Part: Maintenance!

One suggestion if you want Fat Smash-like results but CRAVE meat... do South Beach.
You are sort of trading in your fruits on FSD for Lean Meats on SBD.

I did SBD and while the first 2 weeks on Phase 1 was just as tough as the Detox phase of FSD, the meat did help fill me up. I ate lots of chicken and filet mignon. Even Lean Hamburger sometimes. I highly recommend South Beach diet.

so far all i have done for excersize is about a 30 minute walk, when i get home from work ill do 25 minutes of something else to make up the 55 minute "cardio"

i had a pretty good pace going with my walk so i think that would fit into the walking fast on a treadmill thing, i dont have a treadmill

the important thing is that my hear rate went up and i did feel like it was a little bit of a workout

i have my bike all ready for tomorrow and my rollerblades will be put in my car

After reading EFS, I've decided I am a Beta.

I weighed myself this morning, wont say how much I weigh, but my first mini goal is 10 pounds by Friday 5/25. Ultimately I think I need to lose around 50-60 lbs.

So this morning I did my elliptical that I have at home for 20 mins. Walked for 20 mins on my lunch break. Will do another 20 on my elliptical tonight.

Food intake so far:
7AM Meal #1- one whole egg cooked in a pan with pam spray and a
1/2 cup freshly squeezed OJ ( I have a juicer)
11AM Meal #2 - 1 cup of mixed fruit consisting of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
and grapes.

1PM Meal #3 - Plain salad about 1 cup with red wine vinegar spritzer dressing

I've had all 3 meals, going to eat meal 4 around 6 or 7pm...I didnt bring any carrots to work and I'm starving. This is going to be an uphill battle, glad to have you guys along with me. It's even worse because it's someone's birthday in the office and they are doing cake. WILLPOWER, I hate you!!!

What is absolutely stupid is that I have trouble eating a lot/frequently. I don't even eat a lot of food, but what I eat and when I eat it are not good. Little to no food during the day and a large(ish) meal in the evening before bed usually consisting of pizza or something else not particularly "healthy."

Man, I am not happy with me...

I'm gonna cut portions starting today and start to eat better things. This is what I did a few years ago and lost about 35 pounds. I went to diet soda at that time too, Ian Smith said if you switch from drinking one can of regular to diet a day you lose 15 pounds over a year. I was eating lots of fruit at that time too. I'm at about 190, I'd like to lose another 20 or so.

I'm pretty active at work (except this moment) and with the summer coming up I'll be busting my ass (that's where the real hard work starts).

After one day of fruit and raw veggies I am completely nauseaus and want to cry lol

I lost 60 on SB 2 yrs ago - I am going this route. I do well with higher protein content and I think my body needs meat. Going home to eat something and then work out there. Don't want to pukey at the gym.

I'm having a very tough time getting back in it - I was very motivated earlier in the year - it's amazing how quickly (and how much) I can drop by cutting out (a) fast food and (b) soda - all soda - even diet. What gets me EVERY TIME is when I have to break out of the routine because of travel.

The beach body DVDs mock me from a dusty shelf.

I'm starting this diet tomorrow...I bought the Extreme Fat Smash Diet book yesterday, and read all of the information about it.

I have many problems when it comes to eating habits, and I'm hoping this will help. So far today, which is my last day before the diet, I've had one meal, which I'm used to. Four meals a day is going to be tough...but I bought all the food I need for the first week or two, planned out a meal schedule, and I know the exercise part will be easy for me. The tough part was walking while carrying five bags of groceries back to my apartment, which is over a mile away from the grocery store. Talk about building up a sweat...

My goal is to lose about twenty pounds to get back to a weight I'm comfortable with. I'm really excited about this!

Good luck, everyone!

Ok I got a scale today, I'm at 248. I want to lost at least 50lbs.

I started my new diet today, I always hate the word "diet" because it feels like it's something temporary. This to be something that I want to permanent. I got the Extreme Fat Smash Diet book over the weekend, I still have to read it which I will shortly.

For my eats today I had the following....

Breakfast - A whole wheat bagel with cream cheese, I had it in the house and decided to finish it. Pretty much I want that to be the end of the breads for me.

Lunch - I had a salad with grilled chicken slices, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and green peppers.

Dinner - For dinner I had some watermelon wedges, cantaloupe wedges, some roasted unsalted almonds, an orange and yogurt, not exactly the healthiest stuff but at least it's a good start and definitely healthier than what I usually would get.

I had no soda today, but I did have coffee, and also water. I'm planning on getting healthier and stricter with each day. I also picked up some multivitamins and flax oil gelcaps which I've heard is good as well.

Tomorrow I will start the habit of walking and exercising. I'll also do some abdominal exercising later tonight.

Overall I think a good start for me.

i'm no expert, but it seems like people are going for alot of changes at once- which may work in the short run, but may not last.

how abouteveryone tries going one step at a time. for example, each week, adding one of these things: cut down on smoking and drinking, start cardio exercise 4X per week, add one fruit or vegetable for every meal (ie. 3-4 a day), cut out sweets, cut out non-skim dairy, etc. it may take longer to get results, but they might last. when i started with the fruit/vegi with every meal, i found i needed to eat less other junk.

just a suggestion

Good point, I'm starting off with what I know works for me. I work well with a gradual push to being healthy. Once I get in my zone I'm very good at staying that way and losing weight, the key down the road for me long term is to stick with it an stay focused. That's the harder part for me usually.

as a repeat dieting offender I can tell you that it is the small things that will help you. Too much change and you'll give up. I used to HATE vegetables. I started steaming everything, and now I eat more. If you haven't tried the frozen steamer bags at the grocery store-they are great. five minutes in the bag in the microwave-done. No sauce or butter in them, either! Personally, I'm adding a one mile run 3 days a week to my gym routine (3 pilates classes and one yoga class). I'm also making sure I drink 64 oz. of water a day. That's it. We'll see how it goes. Now for the hard part. As of yesterday morning, I was 168 lbs. I am 5"4-female. I know...totally NOT something to think about early in the morning. I am sick of feeling down on myself, and sick of feeling unattractive.
good luck to all!

I had two egg whites and wheat toast for breakfast along with a cup off coffee with Equal and skim milk.

I just had a thin chicken cutlet and some brown rice for lunch.

So far I've had two 16 oz. waters since the cup of coffee. The coffee is the biggest sacrifice so far. I usually drink 5-6 cups a day. I'm really gonna try to keep it to the one cup just to get me going.

I don't have time for the morning exercise since I get up at 5:30, jump in the shower, get the kids moving, then run to the train. I do walk from the LIRR in Woodside to my job in Maspeth (it's about 1 mile, and I get there in approx. 13 minutes). I do the same walk at the end of the day as well in about the same amount of time.

Hopefully I'm off on the right foot. The biggest problem is dinner. I've been grilling alot since the weather got better. Of course it's hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs etc... I've been trying to stick to lean chicken or a turkey burger for myself along with a salad with fat free dressing.

Only did about a half hour but it gave me a boost and I haven't had a craving for ANY caffeine today.

Will move to 45 minutes then an hour by the weekend and get back into my going to the gym groove.... wheeee

Had 2 eggs and a slice of canadian bacon this morning, grapes as a snack, raw cauliflower, 2 slices of turkey and 2 slices of low fat ham for lunch and will have a smart one for dinner (rehearsal.... no time to cook).

my toughest time is at night.... watching the game tonight will be tough without popcorn or a cocktail.... ggrrrrrr.

I feel a lot of energy too, I'm loving it. I need to get into the habit now of exercising. I've been trying to find somewhere near work that I can walk after I get out. I'm going to look tomorrow again.

For Breakfast today I had Dannon Raspberry No-Fat Yogurt and Essence Water (Watermelon flavor) with no sugar.

For Lunch, I had spinach salad with grilled chicken, and no dressing.

For Dinner, I went to a place called Cosi that makes these great flatbread sandwiches. I got the Vegi Muffaletta (http://www.getcosi.com/menudata.asp?action=display&record=1&display=0&uid=760) sammich which has Grilled eggplant, chopped green olives, banana peppers, green onions, olive oil, provolone, parmesan cheese & shredded romaine. It came on whole grain flatbread and it was very good.

Later at home I finished off the watermelon that I had, plus some toasted unsalted almonds and soy nuts.

I am also taking a one a day multivitamin and flax seed oil which is rich is omega 3's, I have a friend who's a health guru and he highly recommended it as its very good for cardiovascular function. I'm also drinking a lot more water as well.

Like a damn fool I just checked my weight on the scale...I've lost 3lbs...I'm not trusting that after a day, but I hope it's true and is a good sign of things to come.

If you use dried lentil beans, they're super easy to cook and take 15 minutes tops. But use a lot of water, because they soak it up quick.

I love lentils.

I like this diet a lot...I'm following it very strictly and I feel great right now...just had brown rice with sauteed eggplant and yellow squash for dinner with Goya Sazon for flavor. Delicious!

Amy you're doing just fine, you're working out and following the diet. You're gonna do this and you will succeed! I know you will!

I see everyone is doing a wonderful job with this, you guys should be very proud of yourselves!

Monday was the 1st day of my diet...did very well with the food and cardio.
Yesterday not so good. Called out of work, felt nauesous and had a migraine all day. Did no cardio yesterday but did follow the diet.
Today I'm back to normal, did all my 60 mins of cardio and followed the diet:
Meal #1 Oatmeal and a peach
Meal #2 Whey protein drink with skim milk
Meal #3 Lentils and brown rice
Meal #4 will be 4 ounces of lean sirloin, brown rice and steamed broccoli.

Amy - Like Vicki said, lentils are the easiest to cook. The most delicious out of all the legumes in my opinion. I got it even easier, went to Trader Joes ( love TJ's) and they have already cooked vacuum packed lentils and vacuum packed brown rice, so each is very easy to prepare. Canned beans like chick peas and kidney beans are easy to heat up and eat as well.

Vicki - I'm loving your brown rice with sauteed eggplant idea. How do you saute eggplant?

I used Goya Sazon to season my veggie kabobs when I grilled them, love Sazon!

Oh and I love hot sauce, that sounds like a yummy addition!

I weighed myself today even though you're supposed to wait a week, and I lost 1.8 pounds...not much but it's something.

I'm really frustrated that I'm not getting my exercises in. I'm watching what I eat, but I also want to make progress from a physical standpoint. As it is, I'm getting home late and exhausted.

For Breakfast - No fat blueberry yogurt and some water

For Lunch - Vegetarian Sushi with brown rice in a seaweed wrap with carrots, avacado, and cucumbers, and a side of Mescaline salad, with water. It was very good. I also had a hot Tazo Awake tea.

I had a fruit salad snack about an hour after lunch.

For Meal 3 - Turkey and muenster in a flax seed rollup wrap. Along with an orange, some almonds, slices of muenster cheese, and some grape Fruit Water.

Howdy buddyssssssss

You probably don't know me/have never seen me post- I'm an OA/RF listener from the late 90s WNEW days... NY then, Seattle now- and they definitely help fill the NY void in my life now. I only got into posting recently, but I've been a fan for 10 years.

So here's the deal. I am getting back on to my diet for Fez (and my personal health, of course). Here are a few tools that might help you on the right track:

1) I started up a new group on this website a few minutes ago:

http://www.fitwatch.com/fatpounders/

Look at the bottom of the list for the 'Fez-ebrity Fit Club' It's a website that tracks how much weight you've lost- where you've started and where you are- the best thing is that it keeps members organized by group :) It also has a 'group pounds lost' column which is pretty cool- it doesn't have all the options you would imagine it to have (line graphs, blah), but it will definitely do the trick. Also, maximum screen name it allows is 10 characters, so I'm 'improvrob' on the site... sucks, but oh well.
I suggest we all get on it and bring this thing down to numbers-

2) calorieking.com - CHECK IT OUT. It's a fantastic calorie-counting program that will get you back in the track of things. Unfortunately, I haven't been so close to diet- check out the type of graph this outputs (the big spike up is when I went on travel for almost a month followed by a cruise.. that's the first one... second one is because I have no satiety glands, obviously).

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/4450/weighttt5.jpg

ANYWAY- So there it is. The website it set up, join the "Fez-ebrity fitness club" - it should be one of the last entries- let's support or little fMARIEw.

-Rob from Seattle (improvrob on the fitwatch page)

I just started jogging with a friend of mine and we're going for 2 days a week. Then I'm gonna do some tv exercise programs at least 2 days a week. Tha t way I have 4 days a week of working out on different areas.

Me and my boyfriend (Cockstrong as most of you know him) have already started eating healthier together. We shop together and haven't ordered food in at least 2 weeks. I'm defenitley doing better on food.

As for my info Leticia 5 4" 157lbs.

I used to weigh 128 a year ago which is the most drastic weight change I've ever experienced. And I gained all of that weight in 3 months!!! My metabolism caoght up with me and I have to change my ways!!

I'm so glad you guys are doing the same thing and supporting Fez and yourselves!

This is the true sign of a healthy and supportive community. :)

If you have any video game console, go get dance dance revolution for it. It seems a bit silly at first, but once you get the hang of it, it feels more like a game than a work out- but you are DEFINITELY getting a work out in.

Check it out

ok ..so I have not rocked the fat ass very well this week.
Upcoming birthday and new, nuttier rehearsal schedule knocked me off my plans.
I wasn't TERRIBLE.... but I didn't stick to the *plan*
But now that I have my schedule, I will be cooking on Sunday and full on South Beaching starting after Saturday.

I have added back the exercise which makes me feel a little better. But I do NOT feel very good about myself these days. I was in a great place last fall... strong and lean and on my way to being hot. It's much harder to kickstart myself this time but I have to shed the lbs because I will NOT open a show feeling as flabtacular as I do right now.

i had my yogurt and an apple for breakfast

along with my bike ride and walk i feel awesome today

im going to try a morning star veggie burger for meal 4.

i wish there was a place around here that makes healthy shakes/smoothies because i cant make them at work or anything so i just substitute fruit in for them, today i am having strawberries.

i paniced on the salad cause i was running out of time and bought a premade one from A&P.....so thats going to have no nutritional value for me at all, its all lettuce.

When you're tired is the best time to work out. Once you get started, the adrenaline starts pumping and it'll wake you up. The only hard part is getting that motivation to get started.

yeah you need as many of your non working hours sleeping as you can, and ive told you this already....when i worked over nights i would go to bed at like 7am and wake up no earlier than 3pm....and after dinner sometimes i would nap again if i needed it.

this shift will break you down if you dont treat it correctly.

Yesterday I had.....

Breakfast: Turkey from the night before, a non-fat Raspberry yogurt, some baby carrots, and Fruit Water.

Lunch: Tuna salad on multi-grain bread, with water, and a hot Tazo Awake tea

Dinner: For dinner I was a little bit of a rapscallion in that I went to Chipotle and had tacos, some white rice, and half of a cheese quesadilla....I hate myself - it's been sort've my one cheat this week so far. Plus some cranberry juice.

I also had tea and baby carrots at times during the day and a large coffee on the way home.

Well, last night when I weighed myself I had lost 4 lbs. Then this morning when I woke up I remembered someone once saying to check your weight first thing in the morning. So I pulled out the scale again. I've lost 7 lbs so far actually. I double checked with a health guru friend of mine who confirmed that it's best to weigh yourself in the morning, preferably one of the first things.

I'm very happy to see this, especially since I feel really great healthwise. I'm determined by this weekend to add regular excercise - especially walking to what I'm doing. My clothes already feel like they're getting loose on me. I'm also going to move to just weighing myself once a week at the most. I can't let myself obsess over this.

FYI-
it's best to weigh yourself in the evening- if you do so in the morning, you'll definitely be 2-3 pounds lighter because you lose a lot of weight, not fat- here's a better description:

When you step onto your bathroom scale every morning, what you will be reading from the scale is weight loss and not fat loss. Bath room scales are never accurate in determining fat loss.

Why? Because it measures your overall weight and not your body fat per se. If you weigh yourself in the morning before breakfast after your bowel movement, you will probably get your lowest reading of the day because your body is dehydrated through hours of non fluid replenishment when you were sleeping and after emptying your bowels, more water and wastes are flushed away so much so that you are you are lighter. After a night of sleep and not eating anything, your carbohydrate store is running low and therefore you are even lighter without the stored carbohydrate known as glycogen. What happened then? You just loss weight not loss fat! Your body fat is still there while the weight of other substances such as glycogen, wastes, water etc are depleted.

Now go weigh yourself again after dinner when you are fully replenished through meals and consumption of water and it may surprised you that you may probably weigh 2kg or more heavier and that is at least 4.4 pounds! You just gained weight and may even gained fat! Now you can see that it is such a misnomer when people think weight loss and fat loss are the same thing.

Why must you know the difference? Because for most of us, especially those who are on the fat side want to lose fat and not necessarily want to lose weight. Getting the drift?

This is the first meal that wife is cooking , have either worked or was in the city. I know it wont be entirely healthy, but I will have a small moderate portion. As for Drinking, Bacardi and Diet is the Most healthy, it will be a Game time Decision

Docgoblin mentioned Zyban, but they have also treated smokers with low doses of Wellbutrin very successfully. It's an anti-depressant that helps with anxiety, but it also works well with cravings and the various effects of quitting smoking. You might want to check it out.

I believe Zyban is just the lowered dose of Wellbutrin, repackaged. The new drug is called Chantix. Everybody around me is quitting recently and being very successful using Chantix. I'm going to use it when I quit. It actually works on the receptors in your brain to give you some of the smoking enjoyment feeling all the time, but if you have a smoke it blocks the added enjoyment. So no reward. Anyway, when I was looking for it, my insurance won't cover it so I'd have to shell out about $180/month!

Looks like we all had a challenge yesterday. For breakfast I had a non-fat raspberry yogurt, a hot tea with milk, and water. Now to my bad awful meal, but before I begin I have to stress people...IT WAS HOT DOG FRIDAY AT WORK..the guy that brings them in, makes them absolutely awesome. Just the smell from them cooking them had me going nuts all morning. Okay, time to rip the band-aid off...I had 3 of those fuckers with mustard and sour kraut...I hate my phat phucking self!!! I made up for it at dinner, I went to one of my favorite restaurants and got grilled balsamic chicken and a salad. I even somehow managed to avoid temptation to eat their delicious bread that they give out. I had that with tea with no sugar....of course on the refill he accidentally gave me tea with sugar, I didn't say anything but I didn't drink much of it.

Drinkwise during the day I had a VENTI iced americano with half -n-half at Starbucks. and a coffee.

AMY: you can do it!

Hey Amy-one of my weight loss buddies once told me this. If you buy a carton of eggs and one of them is broken, do you just say "fuck it" and throw the rest on the floor one at a time? No! You just throw out the one broken egg and salvage the rest. That's how you have to look at each day of weight loss. If you have one bad day, or one bad meal, you don't scrap the rest. You just move on forward.
Sometimes saying this (or typing it) is easier than living it!
Hang in there everyone. It would be so cool, to collectively lose in inches, Fez's height.
