it would take the place of one of the pre season games, so you'd only have 3 pre season games and then 17 reg season

the catch ???

the extra game would take place on foreign soil
i like the extra game but at what expense

I watch on TV, so I don't care if it's on foreign soil. I'd gladly give up a pre season game for a real one. Too many players get hurt in pre season anyway.

if they do it right then its shouldnt be a problem

like this year with the giants and dolphins both teams have their bye week after that game

at the start of the '04 season i believe the yanks played their opening game in japan. yea it was awesome that they opened a day before everyone, but it wasnt awsesome waking up at 5am to watch it. foreign soil is stupid, id rather keep the current schedule but my opinion doesnt really matter.

Actually I'm tapped out on the length of the football season. I can barely give two shits come playoff time, so for me an extra game isn't gonna help. Especially if its a foreign game, as it would be at an odd time, which I wouldn't probably watch anyways.

My vote is no.

Are you crazy, the football season isn't long enough. I welcome the extension.

The season should start later, maybe in October, and the Super Bowl should be at the end of February. I'm sick of football nosing in on the end of baseball season, and February is the most boring time in sports.

My brothers and I hold 4 Giants and 2 Jets season Tickets that require you to pay full price for 2 each Pre season games So if they can get rid of that it would be great.

Plus I wonder where they are going to play the games? Europe? NFL Europe is a fucking failure. Asia? They don't really care. Mexico? Please...

I get the fact that they are trying to open those foreign markets, but it sure seems like a forced effort. Those areas aren't screaming for football, but rather they love futbal.

the article says europe would be the first and most likely destination

plus depending on where they play in europe but lets just say its england, germany, france or wherever else the nfl europe teams play

they're basically 6- 8 hours ahead
so a 1 o clock game will be 7 to 9 pm for them most players are used to playing at that time from the thurs, sat, sun , and mon night games

I think its a good thing, i mean, i know football is a tough sport, but what is baseball up to, 1200 games a year? i think the nfl players can handle 17 for thier paycheck and our enjoyment

MLB has been 162 games since 1961.
NFL has risen their games as follows:

1947 - 12 games
1961 - 14 games
1978 - 16 games

Your point is completely flawed.

and they're not really adding an extra game, they're taking away a pre season game

so they'll be playing the same amount as always its just 3 + 17 instead of a 4+ 16 not counting playoff games

I'd imagine taking away a preseason game and replacing it will a regular season game will result in more injured starters berfore the post-season even starts. As a fan I'm against it.

It would only be further proof that the NFL Player's Union is absolutely fucking useless. The mere fact the players don't have guaranteed contracts is crazy.

Yup, three more quarters for older players to risk injury and three less quarters to develop younger talent without the pressure of playoff contention. All so the NFL can expand it's global audience.

The players have no leverage....the careers are too short for them to really have a labor deal akin to the likes of the one MLBPA has.

Meh....I'll be watching my College Football...I could care less about the NFL and its awful, boring brand of football

I think he's talking about the fact that starters generally only play one quarter (if any) in the last preseason game.
