Lacking interest in paying over $300 for the office suite? How's zero sound to you? That's right folks, all the awesomeness of Office available FREE for download. Thank you open source community.
(No outlook though, but you can always download ThunderBird...just as good.)

I used open office on my PC when I still was on the darkside. Now I got a Mac and am able to download office for free.

Open office is awesome, esp for home users. be warned, it will not open ever MS Word Document correctly, esp. if they person has used certain types of Math equations. this is not a problem for like 99.9% of home users out there.
I've been using Open Office for years. I also use AjaxWrite (http://www.ajaxwrite.com), a web-based word processor that opens Microsoft Word documents.

My professor informed the entire class of OpenOffice last year, it's great and it's free!

I had a job a couple years ago where the specs were written in Word and my laptop had Open Office. I was deep into the project when I was talking to someone else about it and according to her, there were pieces missing. When she opened the document, there was an entire page missing, including a large diagram I was missing and needed (although I didn't know it)
I ended up dearching the office for a copy of MS Office after that.

I've been using it for about a year and I like it a lot. It does everything I need. Of course I only use it for personal use.

While Thunderbird is great and I do use it instead of Outlook, it lacks the whole all-in-one functionality of Outlook, even when you add the Lightning calendar. If only Evolution was ported over to Windows. One can dream.

I'm embarrassed to admit I used OpenOffice Writer to create my sigs (I'm extremely cheap). I need to get something better though. I find my sigs to be pretty substandard.

Gimp is free and it copies PhotoShop pretty faithfully.
