Bomb Threats & Arrests @ My Daughter's Middle School

Holy shit!!! During the XM show today, I get a call and it's 1 ot f those automated messages, just as I'm about to hang up, the voice identifies herself as the Principal of my daughter's Middle School, and she says the school is closing early due to a "police matter." My daughter is in a magnet school program on the other side of town from me & she travels by bus, so I leave to go wait @ the bus stop cuz, according to "the voice," she will be there in about 15 minutes. I'm waiting and all these parents come pouring in & they are talking about bombs & people w/ fire arms who were arrested & it's a live break in news story on all the Baltimore channels, fuckin WAYYY creepy... meanwhile, the bus that was supposed to arrive in 15 minutes is now an hour and a half late. I can't get my daughter on her cell & I am quietly hoping for the best as I detest the feeling of powerlessness that is washing over me!!! Long story short, bus arrives after 2 hours, they actually hadda "sweep" the buses for bombs before the kids got on. Everyone is OK, but what a cluisterfuck & apparently there were arrests made for 2 (TWO??? ala Casey Kasem) separate bomb threats!!! Baltimore is now Hillbilly Bagdhad in my book...

I heard about that on Channel 4 tonight. If makes you feel any better, just remember... The surest sign that there is no bomb is a bomb threat. Don't read too much into that, though. I'd hate for people to start being afraid to go everywhere where there's not a bomb threat. Yikes... Now I'm scared.

Some girl got arrested at my school yesterday for having a gun. Luckily she hid it outside because we had new cameras and metal detectors installed after some kid started firing a shotgun at kids out front earlier in the school year. So the police saw her hiding the gun outside, we got cameras out there too honey!

I remember when i was in middle school near Green Bay, Wisc. there was a bomb threat one day and we got the day off. I guess i never thought of it from my parent's angle, i can't imagine how scared you must have been bobo. As a kid i was ecstatic to go out and play for the day. I doubt it will make you feel better, but this stuff happens all over even in wisc. I'm glad your child is safe. All the best bobo.
