They just reported on CNN that Imus is considering a lawsuit against CBS for his firing. Supposedly his contract allowed him to be "controversial" among other things and there were also elements there to shield him from termination for the very thing for which he was fired. Things like not being held accountable for critics opinions. They said they could go back to his past programs, and possibly prove what got him in trouble recently was basically his standard program which in the past, was accepted.
CNN's resident legal guru (Toobin?) who somehow got to read the contract said there is a case, a very good one, to be made but really thought a settlement was more likely. And they more or less applauded Imus's attorneys for drawing up an unusual contract that shielded him.
