the field is really good this year, which will be great for the derby, but it seems like a lot of of the horses are evenly matched, which means come the preakness, another horse could win, hence no triple crown.
here is my top 3 for the derby.
Nobiz Like Shobiz
Street Sense
Dominican - beat street sense by a nose in the Wood.
trifecta box these three.
I will post again in a few days if I make any changes to my top 3 as they workout a little more.

I read the other day, that it's unlikely there will ever be another Triple Crown winner. It said that some owners save their horse for Belmont, because the winners of the first two races are more tired. That really sucks.

Curlin, the 7-2 fav, has the #2 spot. not so great.
Street Sense has a great spot at 7
Dominican also has a bad starting position at #19

that does suck. Fuck it if the horse is tired, winning the triple crown will give you more stud fees than just the belmont.
i think the problem is now adays horses are bred and trained to specefic to just make the distance run, that the long belmont track is a problem for a horse that shows well at the derby. Horses now, just like pitchers in baseball, are just not as durable as they were 50 or 60 years ago due to their trainers trying to keep them from getting hurt.

It's been batted around for a few years, that the future of racing in MD is at risk. This year, they had to cancel the Pimlico Special.
Question... If Pimlico went out of business, would that be the end of the Tripple Crown, or do you think they'd find a new race?

in a surprise move, kentucky officials tested all horses (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/horse/triplecrown07/news/story?id=2859729) entered in the kentucky derby for blood doping agents. results will not be released until after the race.

Pujols is a horse. A sweet sweet dominican horse.

I am gonna do somethig Veird this year
I am not gonna go for the Exotics, i always Lose
I am gonna place $20 Each on these 4 Horses
Street Sense: (Favorite will get my $$ Back if chalk wins)
Circular Quay: ( Gr8 Workouts, Has a Win at a Long Distince Graded Event) To Try Make Some Money he will probably go off at 12-1
Cowtown Cat: Illonois Derby Winner Speed , Reminds me of War Emblem will make nice Money at 15-1
Sam P: Has Giacamo Feel, and he has Kick Ass Pedigree, this Horse will go off at 30 to 40-1
Of this Horse Wins, I will be a Happy Man.
Other Horses of Note
Domincan: Take out the Blue Grass, He is Ok, but May Closse for Victory
Curlin: Hasnt Been Tested , a 2nd Choice, He goes to the Lead, but I feel he will fold once Better Horses close down on him
Hardspun: Looks good on Paper , but has Competed against none of the Upper Tier Horses, will go to the Lead with Curlin and will be caught by the Mid Pack Horses
Tiago: Great win in Santa Anita Derby, but Cali Horses don't travel well accross the Country. I think it was a Fluke Win and he wont be in the top 10
Nobiz Like Showbiz: Good Horse May Win, Good Showing in NY, but field was weak. My wallet will be pissed if this Horse Wins
Any Given Saturday: Like the Name, Horse is a Bridesmaid, never a Bride, this could mean Roses, but I dont Think So, He is always in a Good Positon but Never Closes. Put the Coffee Down, COFFEE IS FOR CLOSERS!!!
The Rest of the Horses minus Zanjero and Tim Tuefelsburg , Do Not Belong , if they win, Its a Shame

does anyone know what the post time is. i've flipped back and forth to espn's 2 hour sow devoted to a 2 minute race, only to find out the race is actually on nbc...who is running their own 2 hour show devoted to the same 2 minute race! the shows overlap so there is 3.5 hours over the day devoted to covering this 2 minute race! in-fuckin'-sanity!!

Back on topic here:
Street Sense was literally 1 horse length away from finishing 7th. if you watch the reply when he makes his move, he is hugging the rail passing all the horses. he then moves to the outside a little to make his final pass. as he moves, there is a pack of horses all riding together. if 1 or 2 of those horses also broke late, he would have been boxed in and I do not think he would have had enough track left to finish his move.
I am excited to see the lineup for th preakness, but I would not be suprised if Curlin won it.
