View Full Version : Imus vs. Rosie

The NY Daily News printed this (and more) about Rosie...
10 reasons why we love Rosie
She's consistently un-PC. Her humor and politics offended just about everyone, ranging from Chinese people to Catholics to American soldiers fighting in Iraq.
She takes on the big guys. Donald Trump, Rupert Murdoch and the National Rifle Association are up there on her hit list.
She engages mouth before brain. We might think it, but she goes ahead and says it.
She puts money where her mouth is. Her charity, Rosie's For All Kids Foundation, has handed $3 million to Hurricane Katrina relief and $20 million to other causes.
Any thoughts on why she is 'adored' and Imus got booted? I know Rosie's out of a job too now, but she wasn't the victim of a modern day witch hunt like Imus was.

She's a woman, and Imus has more of a history of doing racy humor.

I think it has something to do with her attacking Chinese people, not black people (not that Imus attacked blacks; that's just how Sharpton and co made it seem). Black people have a long history of being racistly oppressed in this country, so are understandably a little uptight about that kind of thing. Chinese people on the other hand do not (except during the Gold Rush era), and thus aren't as likely to get all pissy over some harmless comment. Plus they are generally smarter than Americans, so why would they give a shit anyway?
Plus the fact that she is two minorities in one means it's ok for her to bash whoever she wants.

She's a woman, and a lesbian.
It seems like to me though, she doesn't get sympathetic treatment or is classed by her sexuality. Even though that always gets brought up gruffly, I always think she gets treated more like a white guy. I was thinking, other than Marge Schott what other woman has gotten in trouble for what she had said?

Ann Coulter Was Vilified, But That Only Seems To Help Her Career.
Also, That Big-Mouth Nancy Grace Who Drove That Woman To Suicide, But Has Since Been Chastened, Although She Kept Her Job.

Rosie does say some stupid extreme left things at times. But no one spews more shit then Ann Coulter and she deserves it, shes the biggest cunt on TV/Radio/Writer or whatever else she does.
Nancy Grace is a close 2nd. Everyone is guilty in her eyes. She makes them out to be the biggest criminals in the world. She should be sued for libal on every show she has she makes false claims about cases that arent even true. Everytime someone talks about her and goes over everything she has said about her dead boyfriend it always makes me laugh that nothing she said really happened or atleast the way she says it. There are so many loop holes in her story.

Maybe the Dixie Chicks? They didn't necessairly get in trouble but there was a huge backlash.

There has been more than enough said lately about the Imus N---- H----- H- brouhaha so I'll skip commenting on that, whether Imus was any good on the radio anymore (or ever) or the other issues that have been beaten to death. I do want to take the opportunity to give him and Rosie credit for getting some important stuff done for this country that would have never been accomplished if left to the regular, "responsible" institutions (political or otherwise). At the start of Iraq War, the standard death benefit for military killed in action was something like $8,000 and then was raised by Congress to $12,000. I remember some guest on his show pointing this out and contrasting it to the seven figure pay-outs to the families of the victims of 9/11. Imus, singlehandedly as far as I can tell, browbeat his guests - politicians and media heavyweights - about this discrepancy until some of them, including Rick Santorum, surprisingly, finally got on the stick and got the death benefit raised (retroactively to the start of the War) to $250K. Similarly, he took charge of the campaign to raise funds for that new state of the art rehab facility for wounded soldiers down in TX that the Intrepid Fund had started but couldn't finish and guilted enough people (including me) into sending an additional $30 mill. to get the thing done.
Incidently, left-wing Rosie also wrote a hefty six-figure check for the fund; no mention of her nemesis(i?, es?) (sp?) Donald Trump or Bill O'Reilly reaching for their wallets.
So career-wise, what's done is done. But for anyone to discount the above (or a list of other similar things I could list but didn't for fear of seeming obsessed) when toting up the bottom line on either of these two is missing the boat in a big way.
End of whiny lecture.

I would be shocked to see it happen, but it is being reported on a few different sites.

Imus is a moderate liberal, Rosie is on the lunatic fringe and they both do honorable things for children. I could see them getting along.
It might happen. It would be great for FOX, they could put it on opposite The View. Imus would only have to be on air one hour a day instead of four. It would last for maybe a year before Rosie had another burn-out.
Very interesting idea.

If Imus came out of the closet and announce he was a lesbian it would put them on par. As a result his charities are great but he's just not "brave" enough.

Huh? Rosie O'Donnell is "adored"?
If the Daily News wanted to print something that actually IS newsworthy, then that would be it. Given how controversial she is and some of the groups she's pissed off over the years, that might even qualify for Page 1.
Whatever some columnist thinks of her is one person's opinion, and should be teated as such. It doesn't mean she's widely adored, and has nothing to do with Imus.
Expect Yerdaddy to bitch slap you severely for this post. You deserve it.

Imus is a registered republican and talks about how he is friends with Rush and Bill O from way back. Thus I believe him to be a right leaning moderate.
