When I was a kid, my parents bought a new refrigerator from Sears and the day it was delivered, my aunt happened to be over and when she saw the fridge, she scoffed at it, telling my mother it was a piece of shit Kenmore, and said she would have nothing but trouble with it.
From that day forward, whenever the door was opened too fast, the shelf on the door would fall off and my mother would say it Aunt Pauline s Curse.
It was such an annoyance and it went on for at least 10 years. One day my aunts son was over and went to get something out of the fridge and the shelf fell off and my mother said it is his mothers curse that caused it.
I asked him if he could remove the curse and he jokingly put his hand on the door and commanded that by the power of his word, that the curse be lifted.

From that day forward believe it or not, the shelf never fell again!

Did your family have "curses"?

This has nothing to do with the topic...

i remember old school cartoon bad guys would scream the word 'curses' when the good guy got away. Was that written into the script, or was the voice actor supposed to ad-lib some curses?
i also remember garfield saying the word 'sigh'

the united states is the only western country with laws against cousins marrying 1st cousins (http://www.cousincouples.com/info/facts.shtml) (and it's only illegal in 24 of the states). darwin, einstein,hg wells and rudy giuliani all married their cousins (http://www.cousincouples.com/?page=famous). it's really not that bad of a thing.

When Trina Garland fled Melbourne for Tasmania, she planned to spend a few stress-free weeks away from her possessive ex-boyfriend, relaxing at her Aunt Jenny's farm. The last thing she wanted was to find herself sharing her aunt's farmhouse with a tall, dark, handsome stranger—even one as charming as her new-found cousin, Alister McKenzie. Although Trina kept trying to leave, fate seemed determined to keep her at Glen Heather. She found herself falling into an adventure of the heart that would not end until both Alister McKenzie and Tasmania won her heart.

It's basically a batch novel for the incest crowd. It was a big seller in Kentucky.
