I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch ANY 9/11 movie. I saw so much of the actual day, I don't like the fictionalized stories these movies put forth.

The movie was ok over all. I think the acting was so overdone. The accents were so over the top Jersey/New York and the way they made the women act like such hard asses. I think they could have made it better, but the visuals and showing the cops that were buried point of view was amazing.

yea ive heard good reviews of a few of them but i wasnt even able to watch the a and e documentary

i dont know

My grandfather was so excited when saving private ryan came out
I then asked him when he was going to go see it....

He looked at me like I was an idiot... I dont need to watch it; I was there.
He went on for like 2 hours about what he was doing on the beach that day and what his job was.

I can understand not wanting to watch the movies, I grew up in ESDave's Spring Lake w/ Paul Keating, Ladder 5 FDNY, who died that day.

Having said that I was surprised at how well both WTC and Flight 93 handled what are clearly very horrific events.

In both cases they 'work' [ugh] I think because each focuses very closely at the respective subjects; Flight 93, and the two Port Authority Officers that are the focus of WTC.

Maybe focus is the better word; WTC focuses in on the Officers, the Men, there is not a lot of screen time dealing with the events of the day elsewhere, or even outside their little part of the WTC complex, and Flight 93, well, again the focus was on what some decided to do on that flight.

Guess it's up to the individual. Movies, by their nature, amp up the emotions, and for some, that's not for them. I completely understand where that comes from oh yeah.

I still haven't seen WTC, but United 93 is on HBO this week. Just saw it the other night. Very tough to watch, but very good movie.

I watched the documentary that the 2 French film makers made, narrated by Deniro.
Beyond that, itll be awhile before I can watch anything on this subject matter for entertainment purposes, although I appreciate that they exist in order to keep the memory alive.

WTC, the one with nicolas cage, is good. It feels like a movie though. Its a good movie but it still doesnt feel REAL.
United 93 feels REAL and you seriously get depressed and angry when watching it. It feels more like a documentary than an acted out film.

United 93 is an incredible movie, even just from a filmmaking standpoint. The director, Paul Greengrass, is definitely a guy to watch. He did another film similar to this, where it feels like a "you are there" documentary approach in regards to Northern Ireland called Bloody Sunday, and it's a stunner.

World Trade Center I wasn't terribly impressed with. Not that it was bad per se, just that it was such a letdown coming from Oliver Stone. Stone is one of the most batshit guys out there, and he sounds like an idiot when it comes to history and politics 95% of the time, but he usually at least manages to squeeze out an entertaining and damn good film in the process. His last couple of films? Not so much. I think one review summed it up best when they said "you know it's too early for a WTC movie when Oliver Stone is afraid to be Oliver Stone."

the problem i had with the United 93 movie(s) was that the A&E version came out like 3 weeks before the big screen version........the A&E one was heartbreaking enough, why do I wanna put me through another round of it?

and plus, it wouldve been bad to see the A&E version be so much better than the Big Screen version...........
