[patsopinion]

Now as a semi nerd i know that there are people that simply shouldnt own a pc

they load up on bad software (ie the new internet explorer) and simply lack the ability to know when they should (firefox) and should not (kodac easy share software) have certain things on their shit

Its frustrating to use other peoples pcs because they simply dont maintain their shit (updates for all their softwares, de-frag, ect)

are you one of these people that simply dont maintain or use their computer well?

thats like what happens with reef too, any time someone needs help with something they think is a virus or is a virus or they dont know how to turn on the computer on or whatever....it gets so annoying.

it does get very annoying, esp because i always feel bad taking money from family, so i never do. but it takes hours out of my week

someone could not talk to him for months but as soon as they think they have a virus theyre calling him to come over and fix it and he is expected to just drop whatever he's doing and go

i told him he should just tell them he forgot everything he knows

I won't work on a computer outside of this office. My Parents or my In-Laws are the only exception. I actually tell people that since I work on Corporate Machines, I don't really understand Home Machines. If they're further confused I ask them if they would see a Podiatrist when they have a problem with their Eyes and that they probably know more about home computer than I do. That usually gets me off the hook.

I actually started to do this. I told people that I no longer worked in that part of the IT world, and I was not as good as i used to be. it worked for some of my family.

I went from getting my very 1st computer as an office hand me down in 2001 to being the tech guy for my mother, grandma, friends and of course myself. I've learned a lot and just this year have felt comfortable enough replace componenets of my computer myself like the power source and hard drive.

It's really easy, just takes you actually diving in and doing it.

they learned how to chat with AIM, got my screen name somehow and IMed me asking me to come over and show them something......i changed my screen name....

theyd come over to my own house to ask me to come over....id act like i wasnt home...




they eventually got the idea.
