So I will be moving to the east coast next month and I decided to try and sell my car. O riginally I thought I woul djust donate it to skip the hassle, but I've come to the conclusion that I need the money, NOW. It's a crappy old Saturn with 131,000 miles on it and I'm sking $1,800 for it. I just put it on Craigslist 20 minutes ago, and I've laready gotten a call about it. I'm worried though about getting paymeny from people. I've never sold anything worth this much before. How should I ask for payment? I'm pretty nervous about accepting a check, and $1800 is a lot of cash, and I aslo need to close the deall as quickly as possible? Plus (and I'm not trying to raise anybodies ire) where I live is completely inhabited with illegal immigrants (ask Thomas Merton or Led37Zep, all farmworkers) and I just feel unsure about how to deal with anybody who would offer me anything other than cash? Has anybody dealt with this type of sitiuation before? Any advice would be very appreciated. Holy shit as I typed this a second person called...

DO NOT take at CHECK !!!!!!!!!
Cash or certified cashiers check only !!! or you will get ripped budday...
Paypay would actually work though cept make them pay the fees.
You need your title and it needs to show lien release if you had previously financed the car.

if they can write you a check for 1800, then can bring 1800 in cash. that is not a lot of money at all to bring somewhere in cash, so make sure they bring 18 nice crisp 100 dollar bills. and there is a good chance they show up with 1600 and try and get you to give it to them for that much, but they have that extra 200 somewhere in their car.

$1800 is not a lot of money, ask for cash. Even if you get a bank check it can be fake. There has been stories about people making fake bank checks and buying things on craigslist.
Sell it on ebay and take paypal if your so affraid of someone bringing money to you.

A postal money order is another option.

I would go with the cash. My wife sold her brothers car on ebay and I was all paranoid it wasn't gonna work out. Alot of people were into it and we found a buyer. Good Luck cash rules!!!
