I was grabbing my camera, which i just used last weekend, to charge it for Cigar Day this weekend. I go to snap a pic of my humidor all filled with cigars, and nothing happens. Well, actually where the button was to shoot is now a hole. the button has popped off, and is missing.
It is a Canon SD-300. I have no clue where the button is. Everything else works perfectly. It is going to be a real shame to throw this camera away. Please tell me someone here knows a repair man at cannon who can get me a button.

while your answer is 100 times more helpful than the Don's, I tried that and I can not find it. I can take a picture with using a tootpick to press the internal button. this sucks cause i love this camera.

Wrong thread, sorry.
Couldn't you get another button mailed to you by the camera company, similar to say, Anthony orderering a fan for his PC? Hopefully with better results of course.

. I can take a picture with using a tootpick to press the internal button. .
For a temp fix try tapeing over the hole and then poke a piece of toothpick through and see if it holds in place for a temp button. Or see if you can sit a temp button in place like a pencil eraser or something that fits nice and put a piece of tape over it so it doesn't fall out.
It won't be pretty but you may be able to take pictures.
For the real fix Contact Canaon Cust. Service and order a new button.
These 2 web sites will help with taking the camera apart to put the new button in. They are actually instructions to replace the LCD screen but show how to open the case. I couldn't find anyone who had the same button issue.
The first has pictures but the second mentions how to remove the button in a SD500 so it could be similar to the SD300.
this one has pics (http://www.smashedhat.com/sd300repair/)
No pics on this one (http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~jo262/miscellany/broken_lcd_cracked_screen_canon_sd-300_sd-200_ixus-40_ixus-30.html)
Hope that helps a little.

Thanks so much for the links!
I actually found an entire premade assembly with the button on it. it was 20 bucks shipped, so I will try and take the camera apart this week and put it in. thanks again for the help!
