First thing that comes to mind is Sushi. Second, I've heard that the area around Tokyo is beautiful. You could ask the hotel you're staying at for some recommendations, they might even be able to find you some deals.

Wow, it's been 15 years since I've been to Tokyo and I was only 12 then. Roppongi and the Ginza should be good for nightlife/shopping.

If Japanese baseball is in season, I enjoyed that. Same game, but they have a very interesting take on it, with corporate cheering sections, giving back foul balls, stuffed animals after home runs, etc. A lot more interesting than Mr. Baseball with Magnum PI. Yomiuri Giants are the big Tokyo team, but there are others.

Possibly a Sumo tournament if one is going on. Never did that, but I wish I had.

There are always the pachenko halls.

Seki City is the famous knife and sword making city in japan. I have no idea how far it is from tokyo, but i've always wanted to go.

If I was in any part of japan I would drink green tea and buy knives. I don't know how the exchange rate would work, but my guess is you can get some excellent japanese knives for considerable cheaper there. There are also many teas and sakes that you could never get in the U.S.

I wanna go to japan. I'm so jealous....
