Calgary looks fired up and ready to play today! eerrr.......
I promise if the score continues like this the game will get ugly. Calgary never loses with class. Dion and Hams will be taking pot shots at everyone on the ice. And Iginla will join in as well, I promise.

Thats why I still have it on!! If this gets like the 3rd period of the last game, it should be an all out brawl

Well the difference there is that the games are highly contested and close, while Calgary looks awful. And to say Avery has something to do with it is an understatement.

Avery has gotten into their heads so much, that their top guys like kovelchuk an Hossa, concentrate more on where he is so they can get him, than scoring.. What a freakin pick up he has been.. And he only just turned 27.

I remember in a game against LA (Avs), Avery got in a fight with his own fucking teammate on the bench and kept it going from the ice. The guy is a perfect rental, bc if he's around too long his own team starts to hate him. He's no Claude Lemieux where you love him if he's on your team and hate him if your not. Avery is a clear cut hate all the way guy and that goes double for coaching staffs. However, you can never question his effort in games as he has one of those non-stop motors. It's a shame bc he is a really good player with skill, grit and intensity.

Maybe as long as a team is winning, he is fine and can be tolerated?? But when the team is losing, is when he becomes the prob.. I dunno, i hope.. He is such good player.. I hope he matures.. I want him on this team for years to come..

Sorry, not the case. There's a reason you got him so cheap as LA finally had enough of him. In fact, at the end of last year they even sat him out for the final few games (2005-2006). I guess the Kings were never big contenders during his run, but I doubt he's about to suddenly mature with the Rangers. In fact, that might kill his style if it did happen.

What did Det get for him, when they dealt him to the Kings?? Was it another got tired of him dump? Or did they get a good player.. Det has Always been good, so i am just checking on my winning team theory...

Quite honestly, Avery is a much-needed missing ingredient that the Rangers didn't have last year. He adds, and God help me for using this term, but some "spunk" to the team.

Or worse, but you're the optomist huh!
And that goal by Shanny is half the reason I picked them to win a series this year. He and Avery bring that playoff grit scoring edge that they just didn't have last year. It's a big key.

One time I was coaching an outdoor league. No glass over the boards. I was leaning over trying to see what was happening in our defensive zone while we were killing a penalty. Apparently my defenseman cleared the zone with a slapshot. The entire team leaned back, but it was too late for me.
It hit me right between the eyes and split my glasses in half.

Ex-NHL player Gaetan Duchesne dies at 44
Associated Press Apr 16, 2007, 3:49 PM EDT
QUEBEC (AP) -Gaetan Duchesne, who played in the NHL for 14 seasons and helped the Minnesota North Stars reach the 1991 Stanley Cup final, died while training at a gym Monday. He was 44.
Duchesne collapsed and could not be resuscitated, said his former junior team, the Quebec Remparts. The cause of death was not immediately known.
Duchesne played for five NHL teams - Washington, Quebec, Minnesota, San Jose and Florida - and retired after the 1994-95 season. The forward appeared in 1,028 NHL games, totaling 179 goals and 254 assists. He was in 84 playoff games.
Duchesne, born in Quebec, was an eighth-round draft pick of the Capitals in 1981 and made the NHL club out of his first training camp. After six seasons with Washington, he was traded to the Nordiques with Alan Haworth and a first-round draft pick - that turned out to be Joe Sakic - for Dale Hunter and goalie Clint Malarchuk.
After helping Minnesota advance to the Stanley Cup final, where the North Stars lost to Pittsburgh in six games, he finished his career with the Sharks and Panthers.
Duchesne later worked as an assistant coach with the defunct Quebec Rafales of the IHL and the Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Duchesne is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son, Jeremy, who is a goaltender with the Val d'Or Foreurs of the QMJHL.
Well, 2-1 San Jose after 2.

As a winger who used to park his ass in front of the net on power plays (usually battling one of you filthy defenseman :furious: ) I was none too fond of the puck at eye level either.
Fuck I can attest to that! In fact, all my recent dental work is due to playing this type fashion myself and getting a real nice tip in which the puck road up my stick and destroyed my wisdom tooth and my first molar when it hit me in the fucking mouth. So far I had to have the wisdom tooth out and it was all broken up so it was hard to get out, and I'm almost done with the root canal on the remains of my first molar. And that was on a deflection for crying out loud, imagine a straight 90 mph direct hit?!

Come on! Your a hard-working brick shithouse, you'd do/be fine. I have a few teams so you can pick which one you want to play on. We had a crazy one last night, hence the reason I can't sleep right now. We have a few new guys playing and a lot of us haven't been on the ice for a few weeks between seasons. So getting matched up with the top team in the division for our first game back was bad news.
Sure enough we looked ugly early and fell behing 5-0 after one. Well I gave a classic, CLASSIC talk to get them riled up and had to point out some real selfish plays in order to get them to play as a team. The results were good and we got back to 7-4, so we had a shot. It was a classic pond hockey type game and for some reason when we tightened up, they got real loose and took dumb chances trying to bury us. Well, we ended up tying it 9-9 late and had a 3-1 with 25 seconds left in which one of our selfish players failed to move the puck to either of our two best scorers and then managed to barely flub the puck in a weak attempt to pass. So end result is not even a shot, but a terrible fuck up when we had them fucked for a huge comeback win. I'm happy with the response of our team and the comeback no doubt, but I have a few kids who are having problems working as a unit and I fucking loathe that mentality. They may not be long for the team even though they have great raw talent.

Shit, if I had the cash for new equipment, etc and got back into shape I'd go back and play in a heartbeat.
I terribly miss robbing some egotistical motherfucker on a breakaway with a beautiful glove save.
Wow, the playoffs have been great so far this year. A lot of teams are looking sloppy to me though, most notably Calgary in Sunday's game against the Wings (congrats on the win, Greg). A lot of powerhouse teams that you'd expect to skate through (no pun intended) are at least having to earn their trips to the next round. It is great to see and it is certainly keeping it interesting.
Also, is it just me or does Versus have the BEST hockey related commercials (except for perhaps the one when Ovechkin orders all the food to Crosby's room at the Hotel)?
And finally: Let's Go Rangers!
I'm as mystified as anyone as to how awful the Flames have looked. I'm sure they'll be a different team in Calgary, though, Gwen.
And your Rangers have looked great. I picked 'em in 6, but it might be an even shorter series. And I agree; the rest of the games have been awesome. Even the Islanders are fighting valiantly.

It was excruciating!
Well, the first period was what I expected; I knew Calgary was a completely different team at home and they came out FLYING. We had a 4 minute power play and couldn't even get a shot on net. The Flamers were everywhere on the ice, even short handed.

Nothing kills me more than blowing a lead in the third period Ralph, but I'll survive. The way Calgary played I was honestly shocked that we were able to go up 2-1 in the third. They outplayed the Wings from start to finish.
I hope we come out with a little more fire and a sense of urgency for game 4 because I don't want to head back to Detroit with the series tied.

Im hoping Brodeur's play from the last wo periods carries over. This was as big a win that I've seen in a few years
I was thinking that as soon as the OT started. If NJ lost in over time and then came home down 3 games to 1 they'd be feeling pretty low. If they won, they tied up the series and are coming home with 2 of the possible three games on their ice.
It was pretty much a "next goal wins the series" type feeling.
