View Full Version : 2007 Milwaukee Brewers Thread
It's a 2007 NL Central Division Winning Party and there is room on the bandwagon right now. Climb on board or you might not be with the cool kids before you know it.
Let's go Crew!
Hopefully the Brewers can build on the good start and fuck up the Cubs tonight! Especially to teach those Cubs fans a lesson for clogging Hwy45 tonight on my drive home.
Dave Bush vs. Rich Hill, I like our odds.

Dave Bush would be the Mets #2 starter. As long as his cut fastball is on, he is tough.
The nice thing is Rich Hill is a lefty and Ned's got all righties in the lineup except for Prince. Let's score some runs early and make this easy on Bush!
Bush is getting shelled. Goddamn it!

He looked sharp in the second so hopefully he's got it out of his system. Now they just need to stay patient and score some runs.

Rich Hill is gonna take a lot of people by surprise this year. He was spectacular in the minors, and was brilliant in the 2nd half of last year with the Cubs. He really is very Zito-esque.

Does anyone know how many millions (nay, billions) of dollars the Yankees have spent since their last trip to the WS???....The number could probably float the Brewers payroll for the next three decades yet, in the 21st century, they only have one world series championship....That's only one more than the Brewers...blimey!!!!

With Wrigley you get the tourist factor...people wanna go because it's "Wrigley" and not necessarily because they really care about any team playing there. That said, most people that go to each game are fans, and a lot of them know they're baseball. The general rule is that the cheaper the seat, the less knowledgable the person sitting in it is. The tourists pay for the cheap seats, the fans want the good spots.

Ideally, we have a great pitchers duel going tomorrow, but Zambrano has traditionally stunk it up the first month of the season, and he maintained that tradition by having a craptacular outing opening day. Hopefully the dominant appearances by Lilly, Marquis(!) and Hill motivate him to get out there and get it done!

It's too bad, he's a different pitcher but him and oswalt would have been an amazing 1-2 it he would have turned into the pitcher he was supposed to. Might have been a different outcome in the years they went to the playoffs too.

I'm just happy to grab one today and get out on the road. Capuano pitched great until he ran out of gas in the 6th and the offense looked good.
The only time I was confused was when Lou walked Weeks to load the bases in the 8th. I know he's playing the numbers, but Counsell historically goes like .400+ in those situations.

The real abuse came when the Yanks got better in the Mid 90s and he Jumped to the Yanks. We call him a fair weather fan.
Now back to the Subject, The Brew Crew needs a streak to get them on top, being good 2 days a week isnt gonna cut it. They are my Wildcard sleeper

I was out of town all weekend, but I did catch most of the games. We've been getting great work from our starting pitching, hence saving the bullpen (thank god they sent Aquino down to AAA).
Hardy has been great which is a bonus as his defense at short is tremendous. Also it looks like Bill Hall is finally comfortable at the plate again.
Plus now, we've got a 1.5 game lead in the Central. Bring on the Cubs tonight!

Are you brewers fan? I grew up in Pella and was sort of a fan of the Iowa Cubs so I guess the Chi Cubs by proxy. But when i moved to Milwaukee I got to be a huge Brewer fan. Iowa is a confusing sports state to live in. Other than the Hawkeyes I never knew to root for when i was little.
4th Inning, It's 0-0. That's not my concern. My concern is that Ben Sheets was just pulled and Elmer Dessens is coming on as an "emergency pitcher".

I appreciate the good words, but there are parts that still really worry me. They can't keep playing Floyd and Jones over Matt Murton 90% of the time. Cesar Izturius is a complete offensive black hole...hopefully Theriot is getting his job. I'm really worried about Lee's lack of power. He's hitting well with a bunch of doubles, but today was his first homer. Coming off a wrist injury like he had, it's a real possibility he won't be able to hit more than 20 homers or so, and that's unacceptable for a #3 hitter.
Ok, I can breathe now. The Journal-Sentinel is reporting (http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&date=4/26/2007&id=22619)that Sheets is gonna be ok.

and if you can keep up this pace like the mets did last year you might make it hard for the other teams to catch up

Seriously last year if we could have stayed healthy it would have been a different division. We had weeks, lee, and sheets for half a year. Jenkins had an off year. The bullpen really kinda imploded from the year before. All that and we went 75-87. It's scary though, we need a good year because the clock is ticking on how long we can keep Hall, Weeks, Hardy, Prince, and the other great young players together.

I'll take heartless for a three-game sweep. Of course I'm really looking at 2 of 3.

Well, we just 10-run ruled the World Champs and have an ML best 17 wins.
I think I might wanna close admission to the bandwagon as we might be getting very popular in the near future!

SWEEEPP!!!!! Cappy looks fine and the injury isnt too bad. He is day to day. Billy stole home! Villenueva was strong in 4 innings in relief. Capuano came back in and pitched after getting hit by a hit ball, but Yost pinch hit for him. Its nice to have some depth just in case... Now onto a 4 game stand against Pitt. Let's go Brew!

i've liked the brewers for a few years now, went to a game at miller field vs the astros in 2003 when i was living in chi town, they actually filmed a few clips of Mr. 3000 with bernie mac at the game i went to but anyway loved the park and they had a good and upcoming team
definitely was going to root heavy for the brew crew if i stayed around longer

Suppan with another win, JJ Hardy hits another homerun & Francisco Cordero with another save.
The highlight of the night was pitcher Matt Capps throwing at Prince Fielder in the 7th after Hardy's HR. I was impressed by Prince's maturity in not charging the mound.

They didn't retaliate as the ump warned both benches. I don't know if ESPN showed the highlight but Capps deliberately threw at Fielder's head.

He has been amazingly hot. I don't think anybody thought he'd this type of offensive player, but rather his glove was the key. He's not this good with the bat, but he is still a nice little player. Probably a 15-20 HR guy rather than this pace.

What the fuck? The Cubs won? As I was walking out of the stadium the buzz was that they were losing in the eighth. Those Nationals really do suck.

I wouldn't be too hard on Bush tonight. He should have been out of the 7th, but Gabe Gross misplayed a hard fly ball VERY badly that would have ended the inning.

Sounds pitcher tosses one-hitter
Jackson's gem baffles Round Rock
By TYLER BLANK
For The Tennessean
Sounds pitcher Zach Jackson threw a complete game one-hitter and retired the last 16 batters he faced in front of a season-high crowd of 11,394 in Monday's
7-1 victory over Round Rock at Greer Stadium.
Jackson gave up only one hit, a fourth-inning home run by Round Rock's Brooks Conrad. Nashville capitalized on good hitting and an Express error to spark a five-run eighth inning to seal the win.
Jackson dominated the game, needing only 89 pitches, 60 of which were for strikes, to finish off Round Rock and take the series three games to one.
It is the Sounds' ninth win in their last 10 home games.
"It was good to execute my pitches from the very get-go to the very end," said Jackson, who didn't walk any batters.
"I'm blessed to have the outing that I did."
Jackson finished with three strikeouts and forced Round Rock hitters into routine groundballs and flies. Defensively, the Sounds were errorless.
"They were aggressive early in the count. He made them keep the ball on the ground," Sounds Manager Frank Kremblas said.
"That's what you're supposed to do. Make the
routine plays and everything's going to be okay.
We did a good job of that today."
Second baseman Callix Crabbe hit a home run in Nashville's opening at-bat, and shortstop Chris Barnwell sparked the Sounds offensively, going 3-for-3 with an RBI.
The Sounds begin an eight-game road trip today, starting with four games at Colorado Springs, and then finish with four more at Salt Lake before returning home May 17 to open an eight-game homestand.

Looking foward to seeing this series against the Mets this weekend
I was curious about this weekend with the Mets, so I checked out the pitching matchups:
Friday: Jeff Suppan (5-2, 2.63 ERA) vs. Jorge Sosa (1-0, 2.84)
Saturday: Ben Sheets (2-2, 4.04) vs. Mike Pelfrey (0-4, 6.39)
Sunday: Chris Capuano (5-0, 2.31) vs. Oliver Perez (3-3, 3.48)

You seem to know your stuff. I'm thinking more along the lines of the national media (espn), which I've heard in the last couple of weeks say:

97 yr old clemens was not going to help the astros, they lost pettite as well, i dont even know who they have as their closer and they are currently 8 games behind with another month before they would even have rocket in the rotation
plus and here's the big kicker

JJ Fucking HARDY GRAND SLAM!!! Holy shit.
As I said earlier in the week, if you aren't voting for JJ Hardy for the all-star team you are an asshole.
Grand slam! 9-3!
Is it me or is Bill Hall looking much more comfortable at the plate? If they can get him going that offense is gonna be unbelieveable.

Its either a 2 hitter or him giving up 5 homeruns. His shit was looking real good today. One of the biggest steals of a trade in a while, him for Nady.

Ugh, oh well good series to watch. They looked pretty good for most of the series, I wonder why they were going out to see Cappy so much and then pulled him in 4. I kinda thought he was looking like he was getting rhythm back in the 3rd and 4th. Oh well on to the Phillies.
Back at it tomorrow night in Philadelphia. With Ryan Howard on the DL, the Brewers have Dave Bush facing the ageless Jamie Moyer.

Hell, even the kids can get involved in this one.

As a Brewer fan I don't see a problem with every thread being about the Crew. But that's just one man's take.
