What is right? What is wrong? Is there a universal sense of what is right? When does morally right enter our thoughts?
all he gave me to make an argument was this (http://www.pc.cc.ca.us/birchwood/wherebeliefisborn1307.htm)

It's funny that he would give you a recent article when that topic is sooo broad and a subject disputed since philosophy began.

You don't need a doctorate to be a professor.

That's exactly why I dropped out of school in grade 6.
I couldn't bare the thought of having to deal with College Profs.

I think i'm reading the question right, but if i'm not i'm sorry.
Before you write the paper sit down and make a list of what you believe are generally accepted morals. Then you have to decide whether or not what is right is always moral or not. Also, can there be a time when something moral is wrong? Once you make these lists you have an idea of when morality enters our minds and when it doesn't (generally).
Personally I think that morals are created by religion, culture, and personal experiences so everyones sense of what moral is can be different.
Your professor is most likely not looking for definite answers but trying to make you think. They probably want to see how in depth you can get with the concepts of what is moral and how morality interacts with every day life.
Hopefully that will help a little bit at least.

Some profs offer helpful, more current places to get info.
This is a huge subject now, Google 'Evolutionary Basis Ethics Morals' and you will get a bunch of sites.
Search 'The God Delusion' or Richard Dawkins on YouTube and you will get a bunch of interview w/ Dawkins. He's one of the smartest scientists alive and recently published 'The God Delusion' arguing that Religion is a by-product of evoluton and that there are many places in nature to find a basis for moral and ethical behavior.
The God Delusion on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_God_Delusion)
Dawkin's Offical Website (http://richarddawkins.net/godDelusion)
Mike Shermer has also written extensively on Why and How We Believe. You Tube may have some vids of him.
How We Believe: The Search for God in an Age of Science by Mike SHermer (http://www.amazon.com/How-We-Believe-Search-Science/dp/071674161X)
Anothe one that deals with Brain Science and Belief in God (http://www.amazon.com/Why-God-Wont-Go-Away/dp/034544034X/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_2_txt/002-0895276-5439233)
There are a ton of sites that debate this stuff, theyre out there, plenty of material to work with. PM me if ya need more.
And yes, Adjunct Profs are the bottom feeders of the college foodchain.
