Not the store bought kind. I bought some of that Dean's stuff last week, and avocado was like halfway down the list of ingredients. I buy avocados and a pack of guac spices and mix it myself. I went to the store the other day, and avocados were only 62 cents each. I loaded up!
What's your favorite kind of dip?

guac is a fantastic dip.
my favorite chip dip is bison french onion dip. its absolutely amazing. and im not just saying this because its from buffalo. i took some down to college a few years back in eastern pa and my friends thought it was the best chip dip they've ever had. im pretty sure you can pick it up at wegman's grocery stores if anyone has them around.

Liz and I get homemade guac from a place in New Brunswick, but in a pinch, there's a microbrand guac that's in the deli case which is REALLY good too.
The best is having the guac on a really salty chip. Snyders has good chips.

If not, substitute cream cheese. You'll be fine.
And not only do I love eating Guacamole, I love saying it. Very funny sounding food.

Thanks. I didn't know about the Leesburg store coming. It's a 45 minute drive, but it would be worth it to go every once in a while.

I always like a simple guacamole dip. I cut up a red onion, 2 avocados, tomatos, and salt. Its so good, but I'm going to have to try out some goat cheese.

Ok... So I checked the one good grocery store chain in town, and they did have goat cheese. Holy crap! It was selling for 6 bucks for 5.3 ounces. I had to pass on it.
On a whim, I decided to try limburger for the first time (processed spread) on some Triscuits. LOVED IT!

You know the feel of a ripe avacado ???If so then clean. If not it should be dark and give just a little when you sqeeze it. Cut in half...Taking your knife and hitting the pit and turning it to remove..Fresh tomato diced(Indiana) and sweet onion....taking cumin and salt alot of it.. and pepper.....I have a lime seasoning from a mex store here BUT,,, I add fresh lime it is key to good avacado dip I use a potato smasher for finishing......Key to keeping it from turning brown on ya ??? Put a few pits in it for storage for a day or so....

Best guac ever? Ordered it at a lil place in Puerto Vallarta and the waiter comes back to the table with whole avacados, onions, tomoatoes, varios spices and HUGE wooden bowl. That lil fucker stood there and mixed up something just this side of heaven. Holy shit, buddays. The Blue Shrimp may have been the name of the place but I can't promise that.

EVERYBODY loves guacamole. It's one of those foods that everyone likes, like marshmallows.
There's a really good Mexican restaurant in town called Rosa Mexicana, great guac that they make tableside like a caesar salad. Great Pomegranate Margaritas, too.
Like all condiments...absolutely repulsive.

HATE marshmallows. DESPISE marshmallows over an open fire (burnt). LOATHE s'mores (burnt with choc and graham crackers).

It's one of those things that's easy to make, but really hard to master.
I need to actually gather the stuff and make the real thing, from scratch. I've bought it pre-made, and I've bought spice pouch things that you mix in with mashed avocado, but I haven't actually done it completely from the ground up before.

Guacamole has to be one of the most stomach-wrenching things I've had the misfortune of injesting.
As for my fav dip, take some Velvetta or Rotell cheese, melt it down and add tomatoes, onions, green peppers, seasoned hamburger or turkeyburger (cooked, of course), and add any spices of your choosing ( I prefer cilli pepper or tobasco sauce for an extra kick) and voila. Fucking delicious on any kind of corn chip or triscuits.

Condiment? Does it really qualify as a condiment? I might look up the definition.

con·di·ment /ˈkɒndəmənt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[kon-duh-muhnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun something used to give a special flavor to food, as mustard, ketchup, salt, or spices.
I'd say a dip wouldn't qualify. Which would be considered the primary food in the equation? The chips or the quac? I guess it would be a condiment if it were applied the afforementioned sammich.

I LOVE guacamole! But it has to be chunky--I hate the smooth pureed mayonnaise consistancy kind. I make my own with chopped 'maters, onion, lime, salt, pepper, red pepper and jalapenos.
I also love bean dip, queso dip and spinach dip.
Now I'm starvin'!

i agree. as a dip, not a condiment. thrown on a sammich, condiment. well researched, redd!
