I have to write a paper evaluating the Ron and Fez show for my Talk Radio class. To be thorough, what should I include?

Shelle,

I would definitely include the relationship the boys have with their fans as it's really unique in radio in my mind. Even O/A and their regulars swear the Ron/Fez family is really down to earth and cool as hell. I truly think it's a reflection of the show itself, just like people say pets (dogs usually) usually take on characteristics of their owners over time.

A great example of this is the Gail O passing and Paul O situation with his film. The boys in the end support their friends and play rough, but by a code you can only admire. Bruno Kirby hasn't a shot at circumnavigating there relationship with Paul, and the way the boys paid tribute to Gail even on Fez's birthday was real touching.

Another great area to include is the travels of the show and the constant support of the fan base, namely Blowhard, in the form of petitions, letter campaigns, phone calls and even more. Bottom line, there is no show that has a more love based fan support that I know of. Let's face it, we are one fucked up family but who's family isn't!?

Clips:

Definitely a Fezatorial of old.

Possibly a Iris/Andre/Kenny Allen call.

A classic comedy pyramid, say "NY Olympics 2012" (loved that one).

You have to catch some classic Ronnie B on life as well. His logic is flawless and funny as hell.

Perhaps a backdrop on all the intern/producer history. The stories are awesome and very involved to say the least.

A few songs of course. Fatty P., Fez's Big Tip, Gail O's song, Wikki phone fix, Crazy Horse Rocks the Fat Ass, and many many more awesome work.

Perhaps some AFRO work as well bc it shows just how loved they are and can add depth to your report showing the support of O & A they've enjoyed. The friendship and cohesion the two shows have displayed over the last decade is incredible to say the least.

How about the different vibe between the XM and FM shows...that always catches me...

And one of the really incredible things to me about R&F is how the whole world is open to them for discussion. They can do the sports thing and the pop culture thing, but they also can talk to Lou Dobbs and then have the Genitorturers in and it all makes crazy sense...

It also makes their show very hard to define...unlike Seinfeld, the R&F show is a show about everything...

Can we read the paper when it's done? :)

Just bring them in to the class with you. It would be legendary.

To add what Spoon was saying, this show craves having its hardcore fans to be around them to form a community titled The Buddays. The respect of the show by it's fans is returned by the show. It comes through very clearly from the Hosts, Producers and Staff. It is something that you want to be a part of.

Ooh, seeing Sleeves post reminded me of something. The show is at all times open and willing to showcase the talent and submissions from fans.

Spoons Ideas are perfect.

And don't worry about going on and on about the guys. You know better than anyone... as you have gone from fan, message board poster, and Bar 9 Budday to intern/coworker. You have seen them from many angles... and watched how they interact with their fan base. It really is a phenomenal story.

I tried to explain to my grandma tonight how exactly I met Fallon.... and I found myself giving her a history of the Ron and Fez show and telling her about how they interact with their fans. They are just regular guys... but they are NOT regular guys. They are brilliant, and hard working, and clever, and successful. And they take none of it for granted. They appreciate and show love to each and every person who they meet.

Needless to say, Ron and Fez earned the respect of my Nani.
( so did Fallon... for those who care lol )

It Is Interesting That The Hosts, Especially Ron, Have A Left-Wing Political Tilt, But Even So Right-Wingers Like Yours Truly Love The Show. Humor Goes A Long Way Toward Making Any Political Viewpoint Tolerable.

They Have The Ability To Appeal To An Audience From 16 to 60 (Well, 56 At Least). Primarily Male, But Without The Hostility To Women You Get On, Say, O & A Or Stern.

Fat Also Appreciates How They Incorporate Music Into What Is Primarily A Talk Show. This Is One Of The Things That Distinguish It From "Comparable" Shows.

The Use Of Recurring Call-In Characters Is Unique. Hannity Has "Marty", But Ron & Fez Have Jay Mohr, And Crazy Jen, And Mikeyboy, And Crybaby Jeff, And A Host Of Others.

And They Have Lots Of Fresh Material, But They Keep Alot Of Recurring Themes/Material That Make It "Familiar" To The Audience. It's Like Putting On A Well-Fitting Old Glove Every Day.

It's simple: just stress the fact that instead of radio guys trying to be funny, R&F are funny guys who just happen to be on the radio. Very unique, considering how most comics and celebrities suck on radio.

If I recall, "based on personal coversation with...." or "based on show dated..."

For Wikipedia, I believe the formal method of citation is the URL. I never cited the web on my college papers -- only Al Gore and the military had it back then.

For Wikipedia, I believe the formal method of citation is the URL. I never cited the web on my college papers -- only Al Gore and the military had it back then.

It's exactly that (according to Rule 18 of the Bluebook) for most things.

If it's got a printed analogue (like Wikipedia is analogous to my old Funk and Wagnalls encyclopedia), you should structure your citation as if it were in the printed analogue.

For example, if you wanted to cite directly to the Boys' Wiki entry, you could cite it like this:

"The Ron and Fez Show", Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_and_fez

Check with the writing lab, if you have one, for the standards your school or program expects you to use. I know that some are incredibly strict.

For example, the RU MSW program used APA, but the undergrad program taught MLA; some law programs use Bluebook but others use ALWD (or, in the case of Seton Hall Law, they were using both), some classes at County College of Morris use APA instead of MLA, etc., and woe to the student who made an error.

A. Don't forget to put your BAC # somewhere. (like under your name on the cover page).

B. First sentence should be: "Whether you give me an A or not, Hey, it don't make you a bad person."

C. And end your paper with a "Seeyuh!!"
