I've got a Dell scanner/copy/printer combo that I had in storage for the better part of year before I moved out here. The machine itself is a little over 2 years old and really hasn't been used terribly much. I still have the same ink cartridges in there that came with it, and they're supposedly at least each 90% full and good for at least 300 more sheets. I can print color but any black text is badly faded and washed out. Yes, the labels are off the cartridges...I'm not that dumb. I run the clean cartridge function several times and it doesn't get any better. I try to align it and the black ink is still fucked up. I can print, but it says it can't automatically align the cartridges each time.
Are the cartridges probably just drying out after sitting around for 10 months and not being used much for the year before that? Was the machine maybe damaged in my move? My warranty on this Dell package is good through the end of this year, so should I try to get this to work myself or just get the thing replaced?
